MAINLY OIL WEIGHTS ARE DEPENDANT ON HOW MUCH BEARING CLEARANCE U HAVE IN RODS AND MAINS...IF IT IS A STOCK REBUILD WITH STOCK CLEARANCES,USE STOCK RECOMMENDED WEIGHT OIL.IF IT IS A LOOSE MOTOR SET UP FOR RACING USE THICKER OIL LIKE 20/50

BRAD PENN IS KNOWN FOR ITS SLIPPERYNESS WHEN CONTAMINATED WITH GASOLINE(GREAT NEWS FOR NITROUS USERS)

I used to use 10w/30 but it was so thin my dry sump pump was leaking around the front seal.
I now use 25w/50 race oil. Some say I'll lose a little hp but I don't seem to.

I've ran 4 different oils this year, on alky injection with a primer plus

15/40 shell stuff looked good going in .. didnt look so hot coming out
20/50 & 10/30 vr1 -- little to no difference other then 5 hundreths on the track

and whats in there now is 5w/40 syn castrol, a buddy of mine did some r&d on this stuff, and oil temp is very good under hard use. So far so good.

10 / 30 Mobile synthetic (Dry Sump) no problems. I like thinner oils for more HP.

well i knoe alot of cirle track guys that put there motors through hell and they all use rotella 15/40 and have no problem they say its better because of what it has init vs. what a normal gasoline engine oil has i think it has somethin to do with zinc and teflon gives it a better caoting

Brad Penn is loaded with Zinc as well. Thats all I use in the racecars is BradPenn 20/50 and MobilOne full syn in my other vehicles... The green oil is great for gas or alky it doesnt get contaminated as easy and its the slipperiest stuff I have ever used.

I ran Pennzoil 25/50 Racing Oil this season. Good oil pressure (80 psi cold and 35 psi hot at 1000 RPM). I run Alcohol so I change after very weekend and, of course it is milky when I change it. The heat stayed down (150 in the box and 185 at the end of the run). I will stay with this oil next years as it's reasonably priced at NAPA.

rotella 15-40 with gm eos, 377 sbc, .0025 rods and mains. 7200 rpm, oil change every second w/end no abnormal wear. teardown every second year :D

Unless you have some old stock Rotella T oil it doesn't have all the zinc in it anymore. If you run flat tappets it is a must that you use something with the ZDDP in it or use an addative.

you bought into a myth of needing to change oil weekly on a alky car  and if its milky you need to fix something
