i do not know what is so hard to believe...this is High HP racing... CHIT breaks...After all its Just metal anyway you spread it.....thats just part of it......before i could be dis-mayed i would have to know just how many failures these heads have had in this particular area.....otherwise its nothing unusal to see stuff break and come apart.....

My opinion

Bjuice, this is my point exactly, but it takes a seasoned veteran like yourself to see and realize this, thank you for your experienced observation to this.

Pow, bang, boom gotta love a litttl erock throwing once in a while.

CFE/BMF have had quite a few problems over the last couple of years. There are stories of brand new heads failing on start up due to thin casting areas,

Bottom line, no guarantee with racing parts, chit is going to break sometime or another, If it has not happened to you, consider yourself lucky.

First of all that is my show car not my racecar. So yeah it has to look good to do good in the shows.

Bjuice....

I am not saying that you cant have both. I am just saying that somepeople put more money under the hood than to make the car to look good. Also people put all their money into their engines to not be able to afford the fancy paintjob or even a decent paintjob. It can also be to mess with peoples head to cuz alot of people think that the car runs like it looks.

Ok I cant keep quiet here.

First comment......
I wasnt degrading anybody. All I was saying was that you dont have to have a fancy paintjob to run down the track. If anybody took that as that I was degrading them then Im sorry. Also I dont have any problem sitting in a car that does not have a fancy paintjob and going down the track in it. Every body panel can be a diff color and I wouldnt care. I know how expensive paintjobs are these days due to the fact that I do paint and body. Not everybody can afford them.

Second comment.......
Nobody is perfect in anything they do. Everybody misspells stuff all the time. Just because I dont use spell check or I type faster than what I am thinking of how something is spelt doesnt mean I am a piece of S***.

Hey gungho, the post I posted the other day was meant as a friendly post. If you had been close to Texas and where going to be at a track close to me I would have wanted to meet up and bullshit and do some racing. As far as mine being a 79 and trying to compare to your 70 Z-28, look again, mine is a 72 not a 79. Sorry you took the post as an insult or however you took it. As far as me thinking my car is the fastest in Texas, not even close but I have alot of fun with it. As far as me needing to move on, nah, I think I will stay right where I am. I doubt with you being in MA. and me in TX. we will ever meet up but never the less, have fun and be safe doing it. OH, and to put my opinion in on the Pro-Comp heads, I have not ran them so I have no personal experience but I do have a buddy who bought the bare casting and said with good components in them they are OK.

There are really a lot more Chinese casting out there than people are willing to admit. I don't know who made the casting that started this thread, but not many of the head maufacturers have stepped up to the plate on improving their castings. I mean look at it this way, some people are running well over 300lbs spring pressure and .900 lift, this was unheard of a few yrs. ago, that head looks like it could have been cast with the same cores that a steel head would have been cast with, with steel being 200% or more stonger than alum. Plus alum mat'l cost 3 times more than steel, so they are trying to save money on the casting. Even the Chinese castings would be good if they would simply reduce the core size and build the deck and top side thicker. It's the almighty dollar savings, and hoping that no one will run the high spring pressures and the tall lift cams. If i had my way all the alum heads i run would be solid, but i run alcohol and don't have a cooling problem.

i know that edlebrock has a plant to cast their own heads, but
the metal is coming from china, and thats where the problem
starts, its not as pure as the stuff that you would get from the
now closed pittsburg steel plant that china put out of business 8)

I would say something like

"A guy I know owns that car....I help him on it all I can, but he lives in South Carolina now. I can't afford to take off work to go down there though..So It's sitting right now. He may run it some next year."

Technically there isn't any bold face lies in that statement. It takes longer to say all that than it does for it to go down the track, so it would be sitting by the time I got done saying it.

Dam Brian, that car is wicked.

I just made it my desktop back ground on the computer here at work.

thanks a Bunch !!!...heres another Picture of the car in my shop with the hood on it....i took it with a cell phone its a little grainy but you can still make it out.

http://i391.photobucket.com/albums/oo354/brianmcswain1/05160922341.jpgI have the pic of this car sitting in the pits as mine, I have been asked if it was mine . but have to say no

Thats Ok...Memracing62...you can tell a Fish Story and tell them a Guy in S.C. IS storing it for you...lol

I would say something like

"A guy I know owns that car....I help him on it all I can, but he lives in South Carolina now. I can't afford to take off work to go down there though..So It's sitting right now. He may run it some next year."

Technically there isn't any bold face lies in that statement. It takes longer to say all that than it does for it to go down the track, so it would be sitting by the time I got done saying it. hmm..... that could work. orrrrr... I could say I built it and a guy in sc saw it and made me am offer I couldn't refuse so I sold it. Time to put on the boots , the bs is gittin deep here   '

He used to be a COP, therefore he probably has a motor from a Corvette COP car.

I have to tell you, There are very few cars out there that look absolutely midevil and dangerous to confront.

I am talking about the type of car that is sitting dead still, but looks like its going a 1000 mile an hour and makes you think of phrases like

Thats A Bad M_th_R F_ck_r
Holy Sh-T
Thats Freakin Sick

You my man, just happen to be the humble owner of one of the few & rare works of art.

Keep making us jealous................

How many Dart heads have you ever heard of pulling the entire top of the head out around the stud??? I've not ever seen one. How about a Brodix?

This is almost too funny and remember WJ, you found this set of heads. Appearently the rocker bolt boss broke out just like the CFE and some Procomps.

Yeah, and for all we know, it wasn't the casting's fault. Did you see the combustion chamber??? I'd say there were "other" issues with that motor that far exceeded what was seen.

I would bet there is what's left of the motor the heads were on...

6 pistons/rods, cracked block, no crank.
