swap or not?

I am think about swapping out the TH400 out of my '72 Chevelle and going with a 700 R4. I do not have a 700 R4; so my question would be should I swap or should I take the money I would spend on a new tranny and rebuild my TH400? The car has a mild 454 and is mostly a street cruiser but I would like to still be able to take it to the track every once and a while. Any thoughts would be great.

Forget the 700R. You'd be much better to do a good build on the TH400. (IMO)
