I need the help of the panel for my next step.

Here is the video from yesterday:

'66 Chevy II Street/Strip car
355 SBC 671 ~630 HP and 600TQ
TH400 w/trans brake 10" converter locks at 3500 rpm on brake
Ford 9" spool and 4.30 gear
4 Link IC 49.5" and 7"
Tires 31x18 Hoosier DOT Quick Time Pro's

The rear shocks are 8 years old and non adjustable (saving money for new)

I have run the air pressure from 6.5 to 12 psi
Launch rpm from 2500 to 3200

My 60' times are no better than 1.66 and have been as bad as 1.81. I think I should be in the 1.5 60' range. 1/4 mile times are 11.3 to 11.5. I would like to see a high 10.

Can you tell from the video which way I should go next?

5000+ rpm converter.

who said your making 650 hp?

what cam shaft?

Engine dyno when built showed 630 HP @ 6000 and 618 TQ @ 4848 rpm at the flywheel.

Lunati hyd blower cam. Don't have the exact specs here right now.

I wondered how much was the compromise between a tighter street converter and all out track converter.

converter going to get it moving

what dose it wheigh?

what ET & MPH?

with that kind of power that little car should be moving with the wheels in the air.

To put it in perspctive,My 3000# 360cid sbc ran 11.80 with a 3000 rpm stall at 115 mph.

put the 5000 rpm stall in and went 10.80 at 120 mph liften the wheels about 4 inches.

never ran the motor on a dyno ,but I'm geussing around 475 to 500 hp

Car weighs 3360 with me in it.

ET's have been 11.27 best to 11.47.

MPH 119 to 121

thru the traps 5800 to 6000 rpm

your mph is showing the power.

you will need all those specs to get the right converter

Nothing like a 8 inch converter!!! That thing will come to life! Be careful, it may show up other things it needs when it takes that kind of hit. Like preload to keep it going straight when the wheels are in the air!

I have a 9" converter coming. JW Performance is building it and should be between 4800 and 5000 stall. I hope I didn't cut myself short be not getting an 8".

Will post results next week if the rain will cooperate.

I think your 9 inch is still too big. The right set up for your car is going to be found in an 8 inch converter. I have a 9 inch in a 1000HP 582. I would call and talk to some other companies myself but an 8 inch with 5000-5500 stall is going to wake the dead in that car.

being a street / strip car 5000 to 5500 will be less streetable. JMO

4500 to 5000 will wake up the car and shoulden have to run the motor over 6500 rpm

SSYM; don't get rid of the 3500 if you do one of thoses power tours or something you may want to put it back in.

A few years of track racing can really make a nice car ugly. Just look at mine
