Broke a couple a few years ago in dad's boat motor. Had access to a SEM (?) and they were full of metal shavings. Bad castings.

If you don't already have rods, I'd recommend MGPs. They're what I used in my most recent motor.

Well, I just took new set of Groden's in on trade, I have used grp & mgp in the past. No problems with either one for drag strip applications. I use the oliver rod for street applications.

Just curiouis, They look like a nice set and the owner says he backs them up strip or street.... Yeah you heard me.......Street or Strip

The only thing I can say about using aluminum rods for daily drivers is a 1932 Boat Tail Bear Cat Stutz utilized aluminum rods. Not many of those cars made, but the one I know of is still running strong on its original build.

The Only Streetable Aluminum Rod

Urban legends abound in the gearhead community. One is: aluminum connecting rods don't work in street engines. Prior to the mid-'70s, that might have been true, however, introduction of the Bill Miller Engineering Forged Aluminum Connecting Rod in 1975 provided an exception to that myth.

Nope, No Way

I've had groden aluminum rods in my street car 67 mustang w/ 408cid for over 10 years and 10k miles.
Pulled the pan last night to replace the bearings, we figure it's cheap insurance. Everything looks great. I stand by these connecting rods. Just about everyone said it couldn't be done on the street. I use Royal Purple 50w with a Lucas zinc additive..
