Harbone
08-06-2009, 09:07 AM
We all see some interesting names on here. This thread is to explain why or how you got that name. So here it goes!

Harbone is a nickname I have had since Jr High. I used to do a lot of crazy stuff on BMX bikes and motorcycles when I was young. Big ramps, jumping over cars, creeks, into lakes, etc. Well I bit the dust more than once and never broke any bones, my last name being Hardesty my buddies just started calling me "hardbones" and it stuck for years. On my first car I decided to get personalized plates, hardbones wouldnt fit so I abbreviated it to Harbone and added 66 for the year I was born. People who did'nt know me just started calling by that name anyways. 30+ years later it still sticks.

Back in the early 80's I was mud racing on the old horse shoe shaped tracks , I built an early datsun with a big block chevy in it , all the other trucks were full size and huge compared to mine , there was alot of contact in that sport back then , you had to have a co-pilot to help you see where you were going ...I asked a friend of mine to ride with me and he refused , he said : you had to be a MANIAC to build that thing not to mention drive it or ride in it...so I decided to paint MANIAC on the side and everybody loved it , and like you said , it has stuck for over 25 years. That is the only name some people know me by,,,,,Paul

Uhhh, mine is kind of a long story. Basically, I ran from the cops on a scooter & broke my arms... both of them. My name at work became Scooter at that point. It was "Rigsby" which was my G-Pa's last name (he was a Frog Man in WW2).

DirkaDirka
08-06-2009, 03:20 PM
Well I got my nickname when I was in the Army. My last name is Duerksen. Nobody could ever pronounce it right(even with me telling them how) so one day I just said call me Dirk. Well one of my units I was called Dirk, Dirka, Dirka Dirka, ETC. ETC. and so that name prolly will always stay with me. My wife even calls me that.

ashbros -

I have two boys who have gone where no boys have gone before and done everything together.

From Crushing an SS convertible I had with one of my highlifts to jumping the house with a motor cycle, these boys have pulled off some of the craziest stuff all before they were 15 years old. It got worse as they got older.

All while I was out of town on business.

They have never done anything to on purpose or to hurt my feelings intentionally. They were just very curious and always wanted to do try something new. Anything that had to do with speed.

By the grace of god they were never injured, but they know I owe them more than one A$$ whoppin....

My boys have lead quite the life and I am very proud of them.

I'm Bigcube on many other boards but it wasn't available here so I added the dart to the end. I also own the DNS name www.bigcube.org for my homepage. It dates back to the late 80's when I built my first stroker motor before it was common. That was a expression around our street racing scene for a stroker motor, there wasn't very many back then... although now with a piddly 557 cubes is small :(

I used my real name as my screen name for a long time, till someone tried to steal my identity. They didn't know how poor I was, apparently...
Since I have a mean small block that regularly takes out the big block behemoths at the local greasy track, I decided to be mytmouz...

Ironman3g
08-07-2009, 08:05 AM
I broke my back in a 4 wheeler wreck rode it out of the woods loaded it on my truck and even crawled onto the stretcher myself, had 2 metal rods put in my back so people called me ironman years ago and 3G is my racecar number

TheRabbit
08-07-2009, 12:56 PM
I quit racing for more than 13 years so not many people knew me at the tracks. I bought my truck and it was already named Rabbit. Needless to say I came out pretty fast and people called me Rabbit because they didn't know my name. It's a pretty cool name and kids love the truck. I can't tell you how often I sign autographs at the races. I started signing my time slips as Rabbit and giving 'em to kids. They love 'em!!
Only on a few forums and at the races do people call me Rabbit. At work and home I'm just plane old me.

I am a big Dale Earnhardt Sr fan and I was traveling from Milwaukee to Orlando. There was a Nascar race at Indy that weekend and saw a car with a Illinois plate that read WEMISU3. I rushed home to Florida and got that plate for my Durango.

When I think of Drag racing, and what it means to me, I think of Linda Vaughn standing by Garlits or Don Prudhomme wearing that coveted TOP SPEED LOW ET Tee shirt, to crown the king of the event. To me, as a child an as an adult believe that any true Drag racer very much wants to be that person with Linda.................. and of course have the top speed low et distinction of any event.
It also was the first thing I thought of when asked to create a handle!

blownalky3
12-14-2009, 09:49 PM
Joined RJ and was actually named blownalky. Something happened to my account and I had to re-register. It would not let me use blownalky as it was in use so I added Dale Earnhardts number to my name.

I used blownalky because it was my dream. Bought a bunch of Alan Johnson Olds motors for my car and don't you know, he goes top fuel!!! My Olds stuff sunk in value and technology faster than the Titanic.
Went to Alky Dragster school at Hawleys. They HAD Olds motors
