View Full Version : Trusted Source to Replace Valve Seats???
I have a pair of Brownfield aluminum cylinder heads for a SBC that I would like to have the valve seats replaced. Does anyone know of a good, reasonably priced and trusted shop that I can ship them to and have the work done?

What area are you in?
I'm in central Minnesota but I have no problem shipping them anywhere in the lower 48 states.

Thanks for the info! :D
I've had work done at Wheeler before and heard real good things about Torvinen's auto body and only heard results from tractor parts (very nice documentation) from the machine shop.
I should have mentioned I'm looking to get a quote via email before I commit to a shop. A website is prefered.
Thanks "hammertime" I'll be emailing you at Nyes Automotive soon; do I need to supply all the valves now or does it come with a "basic" 3 angle?
Any other suggestions???

To be honest, those heads are so old, it isn't worth doing. All 16 seats? If so, your talking a big bill. seat removal, re-cutting seat counter bores, ovening heads, seats, valve job, likely welding in chamber to restore material to work with, etc. Its time to send them to the scrap yard. Likely new valves, surfacing, consider tpossibly guides, erc.The heat treat to be gone by now, etc. They are junk

Junk? Perhaps... I've been trying to convince the customer to buy a set of new AFR 210s for about $1500. He insists on making these work, that's why I would like to get a quote before getting it done.
Yes all 16 seats. I guess he had them soaked in a parts cleaner and the seats erroded? Strange sight...

I have had Gary at Wheeler in Blaine do quite a few things for me with good results and also Brian at R&R Performance in Spring Lake Park.

I'm sure there are plenty of good machine shops closer to you, but SVRE is good and reasonably priced.
