I can't decide between a Dart little M sportsman, Motown, or a used Dart Aluminum block (I came across one, it is missing the main caps)? I want to use a 4" stroke crank and put a 300 shot of spray to it on alcohol. Any suggestions?

Alum will be light and require less spray to go fast because of weight

I would choose alloy in most instances first.

I had a Brodix SBC, tall deck raised cam spread pan rails, made a 436" easy, best block I ever had - still running today in another guys dragster. That aluminum is nice to work with... 8) JB

If you can afford the aluminum. Thats what I would run.

Thanks for your opinions, I have found a used aluminum block (400 mains, no main caps, 4.165 bore, raised cam location, wide pan rails, standard deck height, never been hurt...supposedly) for $1250.....Is it a good buy or stay away?

No main caps I would stay away and thats max bore on an aluminum block.

lol...
if u are going to build compare prices, for not much more you can build a 540 or larger!!! the motor will have no probs making lots more power!
if i could do it again id buy a merlin super block and ohio crank 5" stroke for mega cubes!!! it would of only been about a grand or so more than the 572 i have
