Femco drain plugs

I just picked up a Femco drain plug for my oil pan. It's a check valve drain that is activated when a special adapter is screwed on to drain the oil from the engine through the attached hose. It looks like a slick system and should be much cleaner than removing the plug. There is also a sample adapter that allows me to take a small oil sample from the pan which should be good to check for milkiness (running alcohol). I know Fram made one and I have seen a lot of bad feedback on that one. Has anyone had any experience with the Femco drain plugs?

I ran a Femco plug system this season and now I can answer this question myself. I put the Femco plug in my Morroso pan and will be taking back out this winter and replacing it with the stock plug. The ID of the Femco plug is so small, when you open the valve, it takes about 1.5 hours to drain 7 quarts of oil from the pan. This was not a good way to spend $100!

I also have a Femco drain plug on the Detroit Diesel in my Kenworth and it works great. It has a much large ID though. I don't want to say that all of Femco's products are bad. I would stay away from the smaller ID plugs.

Do you warm your motor first?
I warm my motor to around 160 and then let it drain over night so I get every drop out.

I can't stand the thought of mixing fresh with old oil :x :x :x

Maybe it took a long while to drain the oil because it wasn't venting the oil pan properly. Removing the oil fill cap might have helped.

I warm the engine up to 120 degrees, shut down, remove the valve covers and drain the oil from the pan. The oil is a bit emulsified because I run alcohol, so it's a little thicker than usual. It still seems to take forever.
