I watched the first 10 seconds of that clip & then X'd out of it. Memories!!! I dont know if you guys & gals have noticed but there is not one fire extinguisher at the other end of YOURE track's either. Not to mention, rescue squad(s). I've noticed this mostly on the 1/8th mi. tracks. If you say anything, you hear, THE AMBULANCE & FIRE DEPT. IS 1 MILE UP THE ROAD, YOU PROBABLY PASSED IT ON YOURE WAY HERE. EXAMPLE: I had a blower come apart which ruptered a fuel line(ALKY) about 100' from the stripe. The fire was horrible, my onboard system was not enough. 5lb. bottles suck. I had to reach for my bottle inside the car. By the time the fire truck came I was getting 3rd degree burns. Could of been avoided, I know. The car WAS a full chassis vega. So thats why I have Front Engine Dragsters now because I need to see what is about to happen. This happened many yrs. ago, first time didnt make me sick to talk about it. Was always scared to try Nitrous, still think you have to be a rocketscientist to use it correctly.

One more thing, I do give credit to the track guys who I agree could stand more training. THEY TRIED. 3 of them showed up( so I heard) w/ only one DAMN BOTTLE! before the F-TRUCK got there. I swear some of these tracks think they are doing you a favor them just being there. That being said, how many of you guy's ever won a race, go up to get YOU'RE money & hear WE DIDN'T BRING IN ENOUGH TO DAY, SORRY NO PAYOUT. YEAH, their doing you a favor!! Kris

It took over a minute before someone turned off the master cutoff switch...at least it looked like it

I agree with you all, but what I saw was the driver get out nice and cool and HE or SHE (the driver) did not turn off the master cut off switch. That very same person is likely the one whom plumbed the gem! The track guys are often volunteers and sure gave it a whirl with what they knew. BUT THE DRIVER WATCHED THE WHOLE THING! HMMMMMMMMMMM...
Probably a good thing the car wasn't fast and managed to get off the starting line, the next problem may have been further down track.

As I am an engine only kind a guy, can a nitrous engine 'run on' when the ignition is off under certain circumstances ?

Just till the wiring melts, I don't know about you guys, but the last thing I'm going to do is run into a fire to turn out the lights. Let it burn.

I think the bottle pressure would prevent that from happening,be like a torch, but anything can and will happen :!: :!:

wow what a grand finale. looks like the throttle stuck, the engine stalled but nitrous kept coming. i am also thinking his bottle pressure was up to high. the main thing is he got out. i give the safety crew a 5. they should put that in the safety videos out there- do's and dont's. hey there ya go fellas start another web sight, will call it high intense explosions. oh there i go again, just what we need another special interest group. ha ha talk to you guys soon. p.s hey mark glad to here your o.k man.
