I went three rounds before turning on the red bulb. The "BEAST" ran pretty good: 5.96, 5.94, 5.94. We ran 1/8 mile yesterday due to high winds. That was different, never ran the 1/8 before.

We ran last weekend in the big headwind of 35MPH and were forced to race to the 1/8th like you guys. For the record I have always said that an 1/8 mile race at a 1/4 mile track is for 1/2 trackers whom can't handle there rides. Our super pro program runs 1/8th and the pro runs the whole way down, so that is my class.
I ran 4.911 at 145.04, I had to abort the second time run due to a hard move to the left. Third time run was 4.907 at 145.3 MPH. First round a crappy .052 reaction and a 4.903 at 145.27 MPH on a 4.89 hard dial. I deserved to loose that round with that light. These were the first passes this season. I just made new stronger wheelie bars this morning. I bent the last set on the time run I aborted, which may have been the cause that pushed me left in hind site, 1.125" .058 was not enough at 70" long, now we have 1.25" .058 wall, 70" long and with a double k member now. Took 3.5 hours to build.
PS: Good job Mike

I was having issues, I ran about 4 tenths slower than last time out. I see you ran some high 5's, good job.

Thanks Mike......... I was trying to hide that in the ET info and not dwell on the first round loss I had. However, I'll bet you are correct. Our track had a street tire shoot out this weekend, No points events to race.

I got mine running today(I backed off valves last fall) I haven't had much interest in it so far this year but man...once you fire em up the first time after they been sitting all winter it sorta changes things....Now I'm itching to take it to the track...maybe next weekend. :)

Our race season started first week of March. The 1st race I blew the rear ring gear and transfer case into 1,000 pieces.
However, my truck makeover is finally kicking some butz and after 2 races I'm leading the points at my local track. :D I doubt many watched it, but I was on dish TV channel 230 last night @ 6:30. It was filmed from our first National Points race in April played on TV last night. I'll be going to La Porte Indiana for a race on the last weekend of May. Never been there so I'm looking forward to it. Check it out. It's gonna be a lot of fun.

I would like to get my ass in gear and finish my gasser. All I got left is put in the mag and set the timing< but the beer and the hammack keeps calling my name. After a 2 weeks of straghtening out a bent up roundy round car, I need to visit the local 1/4 mile for some rehab to get the adrenaline flowin! Maybe thats all I need. :?

Bruce,
Why bad mouth 1/8 mile racing??
just because YOU run a 1/4 program doesn't mean a 1/8 tracks are easy or that we can't handle our rides - it just so happens that like in alot of this country all of the local tracks around here ( including Memphis Motorsports Park) all run a 1/8 program on the weekends, now I suppose if I had money to burn to run in some circuit or in a sanctioned heads up program galavanting all over the country with my $100,000 chassis car in tow then that would give me the right to bad mouth them poor ole none driving 1/8 racers too. I like the shorter track for the fact you can run lower gear ratios which makes it more fun on the leave in my opinion..

I hated 1/4 mile for years until a couple of weeks ago when my wife made it to the semi's and I went only 3 rounds. I would rather race 1/8 mile. Of course, i only went 3 rounds then also. We race 1/4 mile on saturday and 1/8 on sunday at HRP for our bracket program.

First round runner-up is better than not being at the track at all!

You misread my entry, I said that an 1/8th mile race at a 1/4 mile track is a disappointment, like almost getting some. Not picking on you guys running the 1/8th when that is all you have to race on. You have to race what you have to race on. Our track has a short shut down and they have the (super pro class) the so called fast cars, only run the 1/8th, and there are some that I am sure can not handle there rides if they had to drive them, I am sure you know a few like that. I say that to my super pro friends to get there goat like I unintentionally got yours. I was never an electronic stage guy so I stayed in pro to run the 1/4 with my 7 second door car, and yes I need the chute to stop every pass no biggie to me. I am only in 3rd gear for 250' before the 1/8th, and have more to go. I am still accelerating and gain another 40+ mph between the 1/8th and the 1/4.
We have a 1/4 mile track and I have enough power to bend a Nancy set of 1.125" 4130N wheelie bars with 3.90 gears geared for the 1/4, so I am not lacking on the 60' excitement tod74 was talking about at 1.09 in poor conditions. I was just giving MY OPINION on how I view 1/8th mile racing personally, when I am loaded up for the whole 1/4. Nothing to do with easy or difficult, just stopping short of a full pull isn't fun to me, even a little.
I do build my own stuff, chassis, engine the whole thing, and race at my home track every weekend they let me. Not a big dollar operation like it may seem, just frugal and careful with my investment like you probably are.
Bruce
PS. I just noticed the (you guys) at the end of my entry. I was talking to Beast (Mike) whom had to run to the 1/8 for the same reason of wind expecting to run the 1/4. Not a general comment.

Yea, I was under the car all weekend working on the new suspension. Can't go anywhere without all that.

Last Saturday at Gateway at the NHRA open event in Madison IL. I got to the semi finals in S/ST. Took 3rd place. First time out this year and was pretty happy with that. Didn't break anything and got in the money round.
My son Tim had a best of 10.78 in C/S and my brother had a best of 10.47 in A/S.
We all had a good week- end and heading for Topeka in a couple of weeks.
