I ran a 1.178 60' in the left lane at a 7.99 and a 1.130 60' at a 7.99. Only problem was that light was a .525 in the left and a .575 in the right. The rollout has to be messed up. Everywhere else I 60' around a 1.085. Being slower I can live with but the inconsistencies in the lights you can't over come. We probably won't be back unless alot of changes transpire. Its a shame because the track looks great. Pits are nice. How long have the scoreboards not been working?

Fullspeed, we were racing in Roswell(Area 51) in NM. A great looking track (PassTime was there last year)but the track had lighting strike and hurt some stuff. In the last 3 years he hasn't pulled the sensors or starting line clocks. The weather, sun, bugs, and time just isn't good for $40,000 worth of electronics to set outside for three years.
We had a bunch of Roswell racers come to Hobbs 3 weeks ago and about 10 of us just thought we would return the favor and race there last weekend.

Sorry to disagree but your completely wrong. If the beams are at a different height from side to side your rollout will the different. I just fixed a track that had 3/4 height difference and with a rollout wheel had 2" of roll out on left lane and 6" rollout on the right lane. The less rollout will have a quicker reaction time and a slower 60ft time than the more rollout lane. The lane with most rollout will give you more of a running start at the lights.

To prove the point bump into the lights after you stage. Your reaction time will be faster and your 60ft ET will be slower. Thats why its so important to stage the in same spot every pass. There's roughly .015 ET for every inch of rollout.

I hope i keep on showing my age for a long time, i saw the Greek, qualified for the NHRA show last weekend. I actually knew Kris in the 60's, in fact bought a set of his used slicks for a $100.00, also bought slicks from the Gusler top Fuel dragster. That was when i was running a blown sm/blk chey in a 56 t'bird. The announcer put his age at 79/80 yrs. old, i've got 9/10 yrs. to catch him and will continue to race as long as i can, in fact i was at the track last nite T&T, next race next sat. at Twin Cities, $2500.00 payout for s/pro 1/8 mi. race.

We would have to ask Zip about that, way before my time. Shoot the bbc 409 and bbf 427 were way before my time. Just think how great a sport to keep racers involved for over 50 years. My first pass was in 1982. How bout ya'll...................

I gotta tell ya, it was fun in those days, i first ran in 1956 @ Oswego Il. won my first trophy with a 1939 La Salle Opera coupe, ran 18.40 about 80mph in E/stock, 10 yrs. later at Oswego, set a world record in A/Mod sports with a blown sm/blk chevy in a 56 t'bird.
I had the privilage of seeing all the greats run in those days some are still around today. I saw Sneaky Pete Robison out of Atlanta, spot Don Garlits a 100ft. at US 30 Dragway ind. Pete with a blown sm/blk, Garlits Hemi, and Pete outran him 2 out of 3. Sneaky Pete's dragster actually weighed less than 1,000lbs. You wouldn't think a person could grind that much off a sm/blk, but he actually ground off every boss, and everything inche of excess metal. In those days a lot of the guys was touring to make a living, stone,Woods and Cook, Tommy Ivo 4 Buick engined dragster etc. and Chgo. was a hot spot due to 4 Race tracks within a 75 mi. rad.

O'h well i could go on forever, but we've already high jacked this thread.

Right about being fun at the track and on the street back then.I drove a 51 ford flat head to the first race i raced in 1961.Broke the trans in time tirals,watch the races then drove 120 miles from Erie to Pgh.In high gear only,But a flat head could start out up hill in high gear.63 nova 331 tunnel ram mod production in the late 60s 6.17 gear 120 mph wagon.I could go on all day also the crazzy head starts when they had time left an ran the winner of jr stock against the winner of mod elim,the 5 yellow light tree and on and on,But still at 65 this month I cant stop.
