ANYBODY GIVE ME ANY HINTS ON WHY I'M DROPPING ABOUT 30 LBS OF OIL PRESSURE AT 5200 RPMS IN A DRAG BOAT WITH BRAND NEW 454. COULD IT BE RUNNING OUT OF OIL AT THE PUMP OR IS IT SOMETHING MAJOR ANYBODY?

I hope you're not using a Fram oil filter.

Just a thought...Does this engine have a "stock" oil pan & a high volume pump? I've seen this happen before. A high volume pump can suck a 4 qt pan dry. Just something to look in to. JMO

Have you plugged the bypass above the oil filter. I've seen them open to bypass and pressure drop. The first thing I would do would be to cut open your oil filter and look for any metal. Nip that in the but first.

Sounds like the spur gear pump (Oil pump) is cavatating
