I was wondering if the size of the damper matters on a sbc ?? I see there is about 4 different sizes listed.

Any size but get a ATI or Fluidampner. They take alot of viberation out of your engine. Warren Johnson years ago said his bearings were shot after just one race. But after going to Fluidampner his bearings still looked liked new. I've been running a good balancer ever since, a very good investment for the money.

I've always heard to run the biggest one you can fit.
Persoanlly I've never run anything but stock OEM style dampners.
My current motor (496BBC) is internally balanced so it's a neutral balancer ( no counter weight) and its the big one, 8 inches I think > Cp

JMO> it almost sounds like an ad.

I bet when he said that he had a big ole fluidampner sticker on his car somewhere.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it is not a good idea to run one.

I would never run a stock OEM balancer on an engine I plan on taking over 6500 RPM. There a reason why they're not legal at a NHRA track on cars going 9.90 or quicker. Everyone has they're own opinion and thats mine. Go to any big race and see how many stock OEM balancers you see.

I run at a old country backwoods track in Mississippi, NHRA rules don't apply round here, nor do we tech! it's truley a run what you brung track.
I take my OEM Jegs' brand style dampner (new from jegs last year) to almost 8K every pass.

Again.....
I'm not saying it's not a good idea to run a fluidampner or ATI, I just don't have one and I've personally never had any problems using them, and yeah there's pleny of guys at the track that use OEM type dampners too.
But we're just a bunch rednecks who'll run anything..lol

I've seen the outer ring of a stock balancer come thru a front fender and go under the spectator stands. Since then I chose to run SFI stuff.
