Well guys,

I thought I would maybe start a thread about automotive blunders that are above & beyond glorious... mine started last weekend, as i was driving down the freeway in the ol' 1975 GMC 4X4 on my way to have a breakfast w/ a buddy (the ol' truck does not get much drivin' these days) anyways, I was going about 60mph & BAAMMMM!!!!! something under the truck woke me up from a daze.... I look in the rear-veiw & see the rear drive-line doing flips in the air.... damn near hit a dude in a Saab that was kinda mad at me... anyways, broke the u-joint, yoke & bent the drive line like banana. I put the drive ine in the bed, put her 4H & went to breakfast. That is the end of my hill-billy bunder for last Saturday.

Anyone break anything lately??? Hopefully on a drag car having fun??? GEEZZZ, I was just driving ol' Besse & she tried to bite me!!! Man, I have bad luck sometimes....

A couple weeks ago I had a student drive a car off our Hunter 4 wheel alignment rack. Over the 5" raised edge and drop the front wheels off the front. Told me he could drive a 5 speed. It hit and bent the alignment tower also. Did about $1000 damage to a teachers car. I stood there in shock watching the "deer in the headlight look"on his face and couldn't do anything about it. He started the car with his right foot on the clutch and when he let off to hit the brake, guess what happened? Full engagement and good bye! I get to pull cars in and out now. No one hurt, thats a good thing!

Yup, me too. Doing about 70-75 mph on I-40 west of OKC I was driving my buddies isuzu pickup that he had just put new to him wheels on and the LR wheel passed us in the median. Luckily it stayed and didnt cross over into on coming traffic.

It ruined the wheel and sheered all 5 studs off.

Did a ladderbar/ coil over on my wifes 71 Camaro over the winter. Took it to the track(HRP), made 5 runs. Everything is fine. Go to Angleton the following saturday, first time trial. Front wheels are a couple of inches in the air and all the sudden pieces of tranny yoke and ujoints are scattering the starting line. At least she wasn't going 100 mph. I blame it on to much traction.

I was driving my uncles beloved 73 karma ghia convertible to work for a few weeks while my car was down for repairs when one morning the passenger side front wheel just fell off?

Retrevied the wheel, blushing, from the local golf course and re-installed with some spare lug bolts.

It seemed someone had put some grease on them stubburn wheel lug bolts

I aint saying another word.

I don't know if this fits with the other things I have read here but.

I bought my wife an Audi TT roadster, my middle daughter had to learn something new and write a paper about it for a college class. So we are getting ready for her first experience driving a six speed standard. Everything is explained on how to use the clutch, where reverse is, etc..

She is wound up and ready to go, it's a really nice evening so I ask, "do you want the top up or down"? Down. So I start putting the top down. Well unknown to me and with me unable to see because it is right behind me, my wife had place a plastic case, that she carries her stethascope and other items in, down in the area that the top folds down into. I hear this loud pop and glass breaking into a thousand pieces.

Well to make a long story longer Audi TTs have a non replaceable heated window in the top, so $1800.00 dollars later we had a new soft top to replace the 3 month old top that was on the car.

Needless to say she no longer places ANYTHING in that area.

P.S. I recently heard about a guy that got his finger caught in a door latch for a couple of hours also.

OK, I got another one that happend this week (but it was a friend of mine in the office).

2002 Audi A4Q Turbo..... this is a car my buddy drove to work once that belongs to his kid. He syas there is "weird light" on the dash.... I look at it, it looks like a fat lady bending over or something... I have no idea what it means. The top-end of this car sounds so bad it sounds like a diesel.... terrible. 99,000 miles & it has a new water pump & timing belt replaced about 2 weeks ago. So anyways, I tell him: "that thing sounds bad"... he says: what could it be?? I say: lets take it to my friends shop who is an engine builder after work. So off we go- 3 miles later, it stalls & a little smoke comes out & she is dead. I hit the starter, classic timing belt sound... no top end rotating going on. We put it on a flat bed & take it to my buddy Joe. He looks it over & finds out about that "weird light" we saw. Joe says: "Uh oh... how long has it been on??" My friend says: "Off & on since we bought it about a year ago". Joe says: Well, that means that you have had little/no oil pressure for a year!!" "That light is pretty important". Turns out that poor engine ran for months & months w/ almost no oil pressure while his kid drove it to school everyday!! The whole motor is toast.... cam seized, top-end wasted...etc... probably bottom end is bad too. Moral of the story: a German idiot light may look like a fat lady bending over, but it is really the DRIVER who did not take the time to find out what it was!!!! LOL!!! It's going to be like 6 or 7K minimum. Scooter

Swivel socket that I dropped, landed I guess between the tranny shield and tranny. Starter guy gave it back to me on the next pass. I wondered if I would ever find it again. Was already saving money to buy a new one.

This happened to me when I was racing stock cars. I was dressed and in the pits waiting for the feature race when my 14 year old son asked for money for a hot dog. My wife took my wallet out her her purse and gave him some money and I assumed she put my wallet back in her purse.
Well the track official waved for us to enter the track for the feature race and I got in my 77 culass super stock and entered the track. The race was more of a demolition derby actually because I hit and bounced off of almost every car on the track finishing 8th. As I left the track surface the corner man raced out to my car and reached into the space between the windshield and the hood and pulled out my wallet!!! Apparently my wife had put my wallet on the hood and forgot about it! I ran the whole race with the wallet there until the corner worker came over and said, " I think this belongs to you".

We lived in northern Indiana and was on our way to Martin Michigan to race. It took about 3 hours to get there. About an hour and a half into our trip, the drivers side header broke on our dually. It was so loud inside that you could not hear the radio. My three daughters and wife were hidding there heads and covering there ears the rest of the way. Then we had to drive home, fun.

Was at the Super Chevy Show in Indy at IRP Raceway. We got runner up in the gambler,s race they had Saturday night. It was about 11.30 at night when we pulled into our Hotel parking lot. There was about 200 people standing all over the place drinking and having fun. They had water on the ground for people to do burnouts. I was still pumped about getting runner up and it did'nt take to much yelling from the croud to get me to do a burn out with our dually. I pulled in the water pressed the brake pedal down, through it in low and gave it some gas. We had six people in the dually, most cheering the croud on, except my wife who was not to pleased but was quite. As she started to smoke and hook up, I gave her more gas and had to push the brake pedal down harder. What a show I was putting on. Then there was a loud pop and the brake pedal went to the floor. I had to let off the gas and pulled away like nothing happened. Broke a brake line to the back brakes. Was up untill 2 in the mourning blocking off the back brakes so we could get back to the track the next day.No auto parts stores were opened, ended up having to buy a $280 pre fit brake line kit from manufactors midway so we would be able to make the 3 hour drive home. Top it off, I went .499 red first round.

That usally happens once a month.Another was, we were racing at Muncie Indiana on a Saturday night. It was 1.30 in the mourning, we were in at 5 cars left. I had to race the track champion. I was faster so he had to leave first. As my lights came down I let go of the button and floored the car. It was a little cold and dewy out.The motor just quite running, bogged out. I could hear the other guy race away and all I heard was my fuel pump buzzing.I looked up and my win light was on, we were racing eighth mile.I started the car up, pushed in the trans button reved her up to get my free pass. I forgot that the delay box was still on. As the motor is singing, I freak thinking I broke something and start letting off the gas and the car takes off. I dont know which one of us was the biggest idiot that night,
