I'm installing a new air gap intake and i have been using a 1" carb spacer should i remove it with this intake or leave it on.

Depends on what your doing with the motor. A spacer is better for higher RPM's if that's what your after.

if it is a phenolic plastic I'd use it. Kris

i've got the same intake and have used 1" and 2''. using a 1 3/4 " now. et seems to like both taller ones for my combo.

I'd go with the spacer since you already have it, make sure to double check hood clearance though, somtimes that extra inch or two will make it too close to the hood and hender air flow.
Not trying to hijack this thread here but I gotta a similar question.
I've been running my carb flat on the intake, I've been contemplating using a aluminum or plastic spacer or one of them supersuckers but I'm somewhat reluctant as they are kinda pricely.
Motor is 496 BBC 13-1 compression, 722 solid roller, carb is 1050 dominator, dart single plane.
Do you think I'd benefit from a spacer? if so what size 1, 2 inch? Open or 4 hole?
Thx, Cp

here's an idea you could try. instead of buying an assortment of spacers, make some out of wood at the thickness you want, if a certain thickness works for you, then you can buy the one that works that's made out of aluminum or a phenolic one. just a thought. worked for me kinda thing.

Hey CP-
I have a 2"on my BBC Team G, which also serves as an adapter from Dominator to 4150. The thing I like about it the best is the forward angle as it tilts the carb downward if you will. I am not real knowlefgable about them, but makes sence to have the carb tilted some for racing & the extra fuel in the bowl for the secodaries. Scoot

For what is worth,I tried a open Wilson 2"spacer,and then used a Supersucker....This was on the dyno, and the Supersucker lost 15 hp....Go by the et...I gotta agree with the "build Your own"theroy, and see what happens...Good luck...dan
