I KNOW THIS IS SOMEWHAT OF A OPEN ENDED QUESTION BUT I AM GOING TO ASK ANYWAY..

i have a 71 nova backhalf car with a smith-racecraft tubular front end car weighs 2925 loaded,th400 right now, and a 4.30 gear..does anyone know approx how much hp it would take to get this thing into the 8.60-8.80 range?.

or is there a site that you can offer up info and get a approx number..

thanx for any input

My drag software says that 900 hp and 830 foot pounds, such as the Ohio Crankshaft Super 620 would put you at 8.804 in typical weather conditions.

i dont know tire size but to spin your car 155 mph which is about 8.7ish then with no converter slippage motor will be spinning about 7500 rpms with a 30 inch tire...something to keep in mind

Yeh, but who runs a 30 inch tire on a 8.70 car. Its only 6800 rpm with a 33 tire.
