Have you checked Ebay?
They have tons of deals on used performance parts.
Check often too.

why would there be a oil fill tube in a intake?

Older 283's and 327's had an oil fill tube with a breather at the front of the intake, none in the valve covers. If you were in Florida there is a big swap meet this weekend in Daytona.

It's just a hole. The oil dumps into the lifter valley.

Think about it poncholvr, it's not complitarded, like everybody said, the oil drains "THROUGH" the intake into the lifter valley, not "IN" the intake, GEZZZ

If you look close at most of the edelbrock intakes like the torker that are still being made from back then the boss or lump where this fill tube went is still in the casting, they just dont drill out the hole anymore. You could buy one of these and have the hole machined out. The machine shop i work at has done this before. for those who are curious the early model SBC's 283-327 had the fill tube in the front of the intake with a breather on it and the pcv was in the back of the block, this is why those old corvette valvecovers you see have no holes in them.

A lot of those old engines had no pcv valves. They had a road draft tube, I can't remember when they started using pcv valves, I think it was in the mid 60s. I suffer from CRS... :P

I think I still have a old torg.intake w/oil fill . dont have the tube it was on a 327 290/300hp engine that i am trying to sell :)
anyone restoring a older Chevy knows that there was both postive and non postive vent systems on 283/327 and down draft engines ether way you need the tube beclause there are no fill holes in the valve covers, the breather is i under the intake. :o
