steering question on mud racer

I would like to know if anyone knows anything about rack & Pinion steering on mudracers. is this a good option or is a regular steering box better? im moving my front end out about 3-4 inches and worrying about extending frame and clearence issues. my rig will be a 91 toyota body and frame. any feedback would be greatly appricated.

Im from the midwest and alot of trucks around here have racks on them. some even us hyd. steering from combines etc. hope this helps
