Im installing my motor.. im using a 1/4 inch alum motor plate .090 steel mid-plate. I need to seal from the back of the motor plate water pump holes to the block. In the past i have used a gasket and good hi temp red or black gasket maker. People tell me to just use gasket sealer.. and the fact i didnt have any leaks before ..they claim was just lucky.
Whats the correct way to be sure there are no coolant leaks where the block meets the back of the motor plate water pump holes?

thanks in advance
Keith

I use a gasket and the "Right Stuff" works like a charm.

I use gaskets both sides and GE hi-temp silicone, works for me.

Zip.

I've always used gaskets and enough "something sticky" to hold them in place until I get the bolts in. No problems.....
