the rod that controls the pump when its bolted on is stuck down how do i get it back up so i can put on my fuel pump

They are a pain but you could take off the fuel pump cover and push it back up in there..use some grease to hold it up in place. The only other thing is what about the retaining bolt on the front of the motor..is it loose?
Otherwise is will also hold it.
