View Full Version : Best Place to Order Parts....

I have just sold my 67 Chevy II which was a street car and now it's time for me to do something I've always wanted to. Build a car for the strip!!!!

It's not going to be anything special but I think it will be a fun challenge!

I'm going to start by building an engine and then buy a decent rolling chassis and toss it in.

Now I know that this sort of thing has to be thought through in order to put together a decent working package so here is what I have come up with so far.

It's going to be a small block chevy (start as a 350 most likely). In fact a friend of mine has an old small block he got out of an early 80's chevy pick up that he said I can have. It has 4 bolt mainshaft journals.

The desired car for me is going to be mid sized. I'm thinking 82-92 camaro as there are lots of them out there.

Part of why I'm picking this engine and car is because there are lots of parts options out there and things are reasonably priced.

So a few questions...

Where is a good place to buy parts? i.e. summit, jegs, etc...
Also what websites/books should I be looking at for advice and tips..
Plus if there's anything else I should be thinking about at the start please let me know. Any comments will be appreciated!!!

Thanks, Colin.

i would try to use the little guys if at all possible ie; ron owens, scotty stites for trans stuff ( he's on rj),local speed shops, cropper racing engine in flemingsburg,ky. you will be surpised what these guys can & will help you with & competitive prices too.cropper has complete short blocks with killer parts in alot of times cheaper than what you can buy the parts for.good luck and just remember to have fun

Thanks John.

That's one thing that i believe very strong in honesty .

I want tell a customer something i cant do if i dont have a part in stock i will tell them and if cant help them i will tell them also if i cant save them money and someone else can i tell them who to call .

I also have been ripped off from some low life. people work to hard for there money for a scum bag to steal it from them .

I'm just a small business and it's my lively hood and like you said treat people the way you want to be treated and things will work out for you .

All these guy's that have recommended me as a place to buy parts have bought from me and i greatly appreciate them speaking on my behalf .

Thanks Again guy's and good luck this year Ron
