Rebuilding Koni shocks

I've heard that they can be rebuilt, Just wondering if there is anyone out there that has done this?

In the process of rebuilding my Chevy II, just trying to see what parts I can salvage. The shocks are the aluminum 3 way adjustables but they are better than 20 years old. They do not leak. The springs are likely shot but that is a minor fix.

If anyone knows if this is possible, I'd appreciate some contact information.

Thanks signs. I got a local outfit in Indianapolis that carries Koni shocks. Also, wrote down the warranty return number. I'm going to redo the croosbar for mounting the shocks. I may just look into purchasing another pair of something?

i just had a pair rebuilt and got them back 3 or 4 weeks ago...

the total cost of my rebuild was $350.00 this included shipping back to me.
the cost will vary depending on what parts are needed to be replaced..i think Paul qouted me $120.00 per shock plus parts..

cost me about $25.00 to send them out there...

depending on what type shock you run or have, you need to weigh out the rebuild cost vs cost for a new set...
if you are not looking for a fancy shock ( single adjustable etc...) you can get them pretty cheap..
but in my case my shocks were about $500.00 (each) to replace so the rebuild was worth the cost.


also they will send you the dyno sheet back with the shocks..

also don't be in a rush..it took 5 weeks for me to get mine back...

I wrote that very phone# down from the website. Honestly, I don't remember what the shocks were. But I paid about 350-400(?) dollars for them in the mid 80's. They are the alumnum body 3 way adjustables.

The factor of the rebuild cost versus a new pair was discussed last nite. Once I crawl under the car and identify them, I'll probably call and see what I'm up against and weigh my options.

I have plenty of time. Lots of work to be accomplished. In all Likelyhood, maybe, this time next year I'll be able to get the old girl out. doubt anytime sooner would be realistic.

"Post edit: They are likely double adjustable shocks, I was mistaken. They are the 8212 series shocks. I pulled them off this afternoon after I got off work. These are rebuildable. At least I now have some information to give to Koni."
