guide plates

i just got my new pushrods but the problom is that i ordered 3/8 and my heads came with guide plates for 5/16 can i grind on these to open them up so my 3/8 pushrods go through them?or is that unsafe to do

My OPINION?
Just Purchase the CORRECT G/Plates!
You have to remember,they are riding on the Push-Rods?If the motor was only turning a few Hiundred R's?You MIGHT be OK????
I would think 40.00 would Fix the Problem.........?
