It depends on what intake manifold you have

The tall deck requires a longer distributor shaft from the lockdown collar. If you use an MSD and some other aftermarket distributors they have an adjustable slip collar on them. Drop the distributor until it bottoms out on the oil pump drive then raise it up 1/16" and lock the clamp collar. some manifolds come counterbored for the tall deck but they require a spacer for a regular 9.8 deck block. Tall deck is 10.2 height.
Hope this helps.

Zip hit right on for a slip coller dist set up. There are some intakes that are machined for a T/D block where you can run a standard dist with the T/D

I ran and untill now I am changing the TD Dart off my BB. Dart said its machined to accept a standard height dist, WRONG. As far as the MSD crank trigger dist I tried to run, and machined it for a slip collar, it was still too short. Had to go tall. Good luck.

I used a Weiand Team G for a Tall Deck and a stock length distributor .... so it depends on which intake you decide on and if its cut for a stock dist.

My Tall Deck DART Tunnel Ram,used a Standard Deck Dist. This was a High Dollar T/Ram about 1100.00 new. And,i was Definatly a 9.800 Deck Height Dist.even though i run my Mag off the Front of the Motor,i still have a Oil Pump Drive in place of the Stock Dist.
When i Called Dart,i was told that all of there Manifolds where machied for a 9.800 Deck???
Maybe, your manifold went out the Back Door?
