Ordered these literally two hours before I discovered my motor was messed up and needed gone through...could have used that money for the motor. OH WELL NEW WHEELS ON THE WAY!! :D BE here in two - three weeks. The rear wheels are heavy compared to welds ( cost way less too)but I don't care...I think they look cool and it is only a bracket car. Rears are 15 x 14 and weigh 20 lbs each( I know that's heavy ..a weld that size weighs less than 13) and the fronts are 15 x 4 and they weigh 10 lbs each. They are also SF-15 approved.

whatcha think? I think they are cool...hope they look good on the car.

hey tod, good looking rims, why don't you put on train rims with
very little rubber, and make it look like your ride is part of a train?
just joking, i hope the fade of big rims and hardly any rubber,
fades away like bell bottoms, i dig the old school look, big meaty tires

SURE. I have yet to see these on any car...I have only seen the welds that these are copy cats of....I just can't afford 437 bucks per wheel for the welds...plus I don't think I could make myself pay that even if I could afford it. I need too many other things worse..lol

Centerline is really making me angry now.I called today (2 weeks after they told me another week or so)and they said the 4's will be ready today(2 weeks ago they said they were being boxed up that day but the 14's were not finished yet) but today they had no record of the 14's. I said well I do you charged me for them...they gave me another number and told me to call their manager who said he would need to talk to his production guy Monday he was gone and that the 4's were ALMOST ready.I said "The other guy said they were done" he said well those are two piece we switched it to one piece billet which is a better wheel...If you want the two piece we can ship the fronts middle of next week. I said your website already said they were one piece billet that's what I paid for, and you told me 2 weeks before I ordered or I would not have bought em if I knew I wouldn't get em before winter. He said "You'll get them you need to understand this is a brand new wheel design we are working out the "bugs" "

My opinion is the "bugs" should be worked out before they advertise and sell them...and now I am wondering if I will get quality wheels or some 1st run garbage.

sorry just belly ach'n.

tod74 did you ever get your wheels? they look cool if you had them. i bought a set of billet specialties and they just run out of front runners but at least they told me the truth.good luck

Heck NO!! Not only have I not gotten them, but I have gotten yet another story. It is different every time I call.
Yesterday I was told the fronts were "almost done" ( they were being boxed up supposedly two weeks ago on the day I called)..but now they are just almost finished... and they are now waiting on a program or something to make the 14's... which will be another week to week and a half...and then at least a week and a half after that to make them. So at best it will be almost July before I see them and if I were to bet I'd say it will be longer than that.

They have told me so many different things it isn't funny. I always wait until after they say they will be done before calling...when they said 2 weeks I called after 3...then when they said another week I waited 2 before I called, so it isn't like I am harrassing them...last Friday I called and the guy said he would go talk to the production guy and call me right back...he even repeated my number back to me. Well he never called and I waited until Yesterday and called him. I have been very polite with them up until yesterday...I left the guy's manager a pretty unfriendly voice mail.....I will never deal with them again after this.

I work in manufacturing so I understand that sometimes you have problems and can't get the customer their parts when promised...but it is the excuses that they keep feeding me and their changing their story constantly that makes me mad.

One thing they did do in a timely manner was take my payment...That was debited from my bank account within 5 minutes of placing the order.

Well I got TWO of the 4 wheels last night...got the skinnies for the front. Good looking wheel.....I wonder if I will get the other 2 before winter...

Is a wheel that is one piece supposed to be welded together? MAYBE THAT'S A DUMB QUESTION.. :?
I know some two piece bolt together but I was under the impression that these were going to be machined from 1 piece of aluminum but they are welded together and the box says "HP CAST COMPETITION BILLET MODULAR" and to top it off they have a sticker on the back that says build date "4-22-08" one day after I ordered them...but it took over 2 months to get them,.

also, they are supposed to be SF 15.1 approved, shouldn't they have a sticker on them saying they are?

A) CAll and bitch and send them back and tell them I want ther one piece wheels( probably make me pay shipping which is 25 per wheel...probably make me pay both ways..)

B) Keep them but call and bitch

C) Keep them and say nothing

I know what they are gona say..they will say that they were not originally advertised as 1 piece...and that they sent them because I didn't want to wait any longer for the 1 piece.... but I know that the day I ordered them their web site said 1 piece rotary forged, SF 15.1 Approved wheel and before I paid I asked how long to get them and they said 2 weeks to build them and 3-5 days to ship.

Should I demand that they send some sfi stickers for them? They never check for that but that isn't the point.

I will try and take a pic of em and put it up.

When I bought my 16 x 16 centerlines for my digger, UPS delivered and as soon as UPS left, I opened 1 and it had damage on the back side like it gets from being on a tire machine. I caught the UPS truck within 5 minutes and had him note the time. There was absolutly no damage to the box.I called Mc Cormack racing, where they were ordered and were picked up. Waited 2 weeks and Centerline returned me the same BENT rim just like it was, and the best part they charged UPS for damaging it. I beat it straight and used it, some times you just cant win. :(

Tod74
06-25-2008, 03:13 PM
These wheels look nice, and I wouldn't have so much of a problem with them not being 1 piece had they not been advertised as such...and especially after them using it as an excuse. I called and left a polite voicemail a few minutes ago explaining my displeasure and asked him to call me back. I am not gona fork over another 100 bucks in shipping to exchange them..25 per wheel each way. BUT I will file a complaint with BBB , not that it will help. :?

Paid with cash via debit card so can't charge it back...and besides I don't really want my money back, all I want is what I paid for. I don't think Iam being unreasonable..it has been 9 weeks.

Well I just talked to CENTERLINE...sorry such a long post.

The first guy I called was the boss...got his voicemail and it was full...so the second guy I got was the customer service/ sales guy who tried to tell me that the welded together wheel was just as strong as the one piece ( ) and that they were making them both ways...
this is the same salesman that sold them to me and told me two weeks...also the same one who kept giving me the run around and saying "another week to week and a half".

Well he said just what I knew he would say...that they were originally advertised as modular construction. I said NO SIR..

Then when I asked him about the sfi stickers he said "You don't need them" I said "How ya figure I don't need em?"
He said that CENTERLINE is so well known in the racing industry that they didn't have to put the stickers on that people would know they were good wheels.
I said "WELD WHEELS puts em on theirs." He said weld just did that because they wanted to...it wasn't needed.
he then said he would patch me through to his boss..I stopped him and said he was not there I just called him...he said that he was at his desk at that moment so he put me through to him.
That guy was very polite with his lies...and he even said that they were making them both ways but that they did indeed advertise them originally as a one piece wheel..( proof that salesman is a liar) said he sent the others cause they had em already and because I had waited so long .(translation = he wanted me off his ass :P ) Said they were built in April but since I was having to wait on the 14's anyway he had em hold my order and figured by the time 14's were done they would have the 1 piece wheels for the front and I would get those because they are better.

But he immediately told me to box em back up and he would have UPS pick em back up no charge to me and the one piece would be sent out as soon as they were finished...probably tomorrow or Monday and the 14's sometime next week that they were working on them(where have I heard that one before?)
I asked about SFI stickers and he said they only put em on if requested because most people don't actually need them (true) but he would send them with the wheels.

we will see.

I will give em a little more time...not cause they deserve it, but because I want those wheels. The only other wheels with a 5 " backspace are the Magnums and Alumastars that I have found...nothing else will fit and I can't afford 400+ per wheel. Besides...after my parents flood damage all my free time is helping them so no time to run in the near future anyway. Working over there every weekend.

Only thing is they are heavy. The 3 piece wheel they sent was 10. lbs(that's what they advertised) and these are close to 13 lbs..best I can measure with a bathroom scale.. I know That is pretty hvy for a 4" wide wheel but oh well..it's a bracket car and I am glad I sent the others back.

I finally got my rear wheels today. I am not too happy with them. They look okay but not for a brand new wheel. There are visible machine marks in the aluminum like what you would expect to see from something turned on a lathe if that makes sense... and they are very wavey. If you run your hand around the inside of the wheel (the dished part that is polished where the valve stem hole is) it is very wavey. It makes the wheel look like it has dents in it. You can see it 8 feet away.I called to tell them and was basically told tough shit, in so many words.I started the call calm and polite but ended up furious after about 10 minutes of this guy's attitude. The dude was very rude and made it sound like I was impossible to please. First he said that any wheel 14 inches wide will look that way nothing they can do about it...He told me I could send them back but I would have to wait probably 3 or 4 weeks for replacements, and there was no gaurentee the new ones would be any better. He went on to say they could even be worse.I said " so basically you are telling me that Centerline wheels can't make a 14 inch wide wheel that does not look like it has been hit with a ball pien hammer?" he said "Don't know what to tell ya.." I told him I guess I will be finding out who I need to talk to about this company and their business ptractices and he said "Do what you got to do buddy...I can't stop you from running your mouth...without seeing them myself I can't say..but apparently nothing is going to live up to your standards." I also told him they were marked production date June 18...he then told me the garbage about testing and what not...

I finally hung up on him. I aint sending them back I am tired of their crap...but I will publically bash them( with completely accurate, facts only) to anyone who will listen.

p.s. Also no SFI stickers either, which I requested two seperate times.

Rant over...lol

I will as soon as they get mounted..just got em this afternoon and I work nights....They can't even box stuff right...They sent the right wheels but The boxes are labled "4.5 Bolt circle 4.5 back space...I saw that and was fix'n to get upset before I opened them cause I ordered 4.75 BC with a 5" back space...so that had me worried until I measured them.

they will actually look good on the car because they are so deep and the reflection of the center on the rim sorta hides it but look at them for a minute then you see it...one in particular has a place that looks just like a couple of dings in it like you would get if you smacked it with a ball ping hammer. They are only wavey for about the first 2 inches from the bead and that is where you see the tooling marks..the rest of the rim looks good. had I not been given the 4 month run around I would not be as upset...also wouldn't have gotten so pissed had I not been treated like an idiot...

This was the same guy that I talked to at first when I got the 1st set of front wheels..he was telling me the 3 piece welded up wheel was just as strong as the 1 piece.

After I hung up on the dude he started calling my cell phone but I didn't answer..he left a voice mail that his boss was out of town and he would have him call me. I am gona tell that guy that I want my SFI stickers so I can cover up the dents. and I also want the center caps that were advertised to come with them but did not.( yes I know nobody uses centers on the back, and I won't either cause these pop in from the front ... but I am gona bitch about it anyway just to be a butt hole) :P

I tried to get good pics of the bad spots but it is very hard to do because of the reflection. These pics make the wheel look like a wash board but that isn't the case...they are not near perfect like a brand new wheel should be but not as terrible as the pics make them to be. the ones with arrows show the dents in the wheel and you can kind of see the tool marks but the massive distortion under the arrows is just reflection

this part of the wheel is very wavy to the touch and has tool marks that you can feel with your finger just like you would see from a lathe.

again...the area the arrows point to is wavey and looks like it has small dents but the area to the left is nice...just looks bad cause of reflection.

This is the dents I said looked like it was hit with a hammer. The funny thing is the bad places are pretty much in the same place on both wheels...near the valve stem. I know that wide wheels like this are always wavy to the touch on the inside part that the tire covers but they are normally polished smooth on the "good" side. While I'm bashing them I want to say that the wheels are beautiful in general(FROM 8 feet away ) they just look like they have been beat up in a few spots..and you can feel and see ripples across the smooth part..tried to get a pic of the ripples but the glare wouldn't let me.

I am very happy with the fronts. These are not the same ones I pictured earlier...these are the second set..they are one piece and they are perfect...Too bad they are so hard to deal with cause these are pretty nice especially for 200 bucks each...I'm sure eventually they will have the wide ones perfect too...He said I got one of the first sets they made...true or not I don't know. I do know it is the last set of anything I'll ever buy from them.

I have decided that when the guy calls me(if he does) and he tells me to send them back ..I am going to tell him no thanks.I will just use them to advertise for you...show everyone the quality of work you guys put out. I have already shown them to friends and they all spotted the flaws right away...They will eventually get the bugs worked out I'm sure and they will be a nice wheel for the money...but they shouldn't be allowed sell any more til they do.

LMAO !!

Q: If the wheels I want are not in stock, how long does it to take to build them?
A: Two to three weeks. Slightly longer for chrome.

Aside from the blems in them , I love how they look with the slicks mounted.... Don't got em on the car yet waiting on my old man to machine me some aluminum spacers for the 5/8 studs/nuts.Will Have them Monday evening. Just now getting them mounted cause the fuel pump in my truck had konked out and I couldn't haul 32 x 14 tires in my car...

it's a good thing I have 5/8 studs and was not planning on running a regular shank lug nut with the chrome washer..cause the chrome washers that go behind them will not fit in the wheel ...lol and we tried a bunch of different ones too. They fit the 15 x 4 wheels but not the 14's.

This link does not work. Hope your wheel 'adventure' turns out satisfactory in that the wheels will even arrive back at you but also that they are acceptable to run !

I caught this in your sig on on bullet.

About five years ago I tried to gedt them to make me some wheels like they did in the old days(been buying CL since early 80s). I was told point blank "we are not int he racing wheel market any more go else where" Then I tried to explain there was agood market for the 4th gen f-body's and was told "You have NO idea what the market is if you did you could make your own wheels"

I sold off every F-ing CL wheel I had and will never go back. They can suck me alll night and I won't buy there POS wheels again!

They are strange axles...they are pretty old but haven't been run much. I've had the car for 13 years.

WOW tod,

I just took the time to read the complete thread.

I had no idea, REALLY!!!!!

I had seen you mention you had some problems with receiving your wheels, but.......... 9 months, No that is unacceptable.........

My balls would have been soo frosted hard telling what I might have done or who may have sufferd the pain of pulling those wheels out of their A$$ after I had waited so long to get them..

I have to say, from the pics they sure look nice......

Tod74

NO NO it didn't take 9 months to get the wheels......it was like 3 months but they told me two weeks when I paid them. I was just being a jackass when I said 9 MONTH LATE response. DPARKER asked about the axles in December and I never saw it.Then when I found the thread to link it to BBCHEVY I noticed the question and answered it 9 months after he asked it. I ordered the wheels in April and got them finally in August and they looked like crap...but I was told so many different stories and talked to rudely so many times ...That's why I said I knew how Gregg(bbchevy) fealt.

Well, they still took too long to get them to you and for them to send blems, shame on themmmm.....

You should take a few minutes out and write a letter to the president of centerline narrating your storey. You never know, it may help resolvve your issues with the blemmed wheels...
