Was wondering if anyone knows what a 68 Firebird would be worth.Car does need some rust repairs.Older build.Ford 9inch ladder bar 513 with spool.15x14 welds.I was told.Have not measured.Fuel cell in trunk also battery box.Car needs work and its gonna take time with it,but I wanting something to play with sooner.Might trade or sell not sure.Have all body parts.Front clip is removed.Needs windshield.Would like something to trade for with less work involved maybe.Roller for roller.Any advice very well appreciated.Really hate to get rid of it :( , just itching to drive something sooner.Just wanting input before i make a decision.Seen alot of helpful advice on this great website so far. Thanks in advance,Randy.

I could easily have the same dilemma. Do you revamp an old car you have versus buying and building a new one. I want to at the present time do similar to you.
I still have my old 66 Chevy II that I originally started in 1979. I was in the service from 1980-84. A couple friend's of mine "borrowed" it from my Dad (with my permission), and campaigned it till I got home again. It was raced from 1981-88, has been retired since.
I've got somewhat the same issues. It badly needs some body massaging. It was tubbed and the rear end narrowed, could use some fresh paint. I want to update the rear suspension to an 4 link, it has a Ford 9" with 5.67s and a spool and axles . It has a 10 point cage, fiberglass doghouse, trunklid and rear bumper. It needs the fuel system upgraded to a cell and braided lines. The brakes updated, still has drums. Not to mention the motor and transmission would need pulled and freshened.
There are just a host of other things that would need addressing to modernise the car. It was a consistant 10.90 car in it's day. It's basically a relic from another time now. That's the same vein of thinking I have, of wanting something a little newer and more updated.
My wife tells me I ought to sell it if I'm not going to reuse it. After having the thing for 30 years, I'm just too sentimental, can't imagine anyone wanting the old thing. Not even sure I could bear to part with it. It's not costing me anything but a little space.

Didn't intend to hijack your thread. You and I kind of share a common theme. We already have cars but want something different.
We're in the same boat in another regard. You don't see many of the old Firebirds any longer. They were neat cars. Tubbed out, nice paint, a good BB/SB chevy, you have a real stand out vehicle. Like my Nova, alot of work to bring it back.
My game at present, I want something a little tamer, with a near stock engine. Just go back and reteach myself a few things. I just can't see going to all that trouble with my Chevy II and sticking a slow motor in it. Honestly, with the way things are playing out, the old car might start looking pretty good again.

Randy and Robert,
You guys have two of the coolest cars that were ever built!! Keep them, I could kick myself in the teeth daily for selling my '67 Chevy II. A well prepared Firebird is hard to beat!! Keep them, build them back!! Especially you Robert, it served you well for 30 years, give it new life!
Ok, I admit I like old Chevys! 8)

Guess i got bumped huh. :DWas just kidding guys. Its all good.I would love to have a Chevy II also. Its just with my situation I have 5 children 1 biological, and 4 stepchildren that i claim as mine.Have from beginning and wiil from here on out.Its just a little tough building a car and raising kids and also working two jobs just to pay bills.Sure you guys know how tough it is.Thats only reason I was wanting something a little closer to being done.I miss having something to drive.Just a little anxious i guess.LOL.Patience i guess. Thanks for replies.Randy.
