I know what you mean. I have always been the same way(trusting) but I have been burnt too many times.(NOT on racing junk though). I wasn't trying to be a smart butt or talk down to you or anything like that when I said No way would I buy used box...I am just Paranoid Floyd when it comes to stuff I can't see how it works.Keep after him maybe he will come clean.
