Valve bodies for a glide have been worked on long enough now that any brand is fine. If you are running a factory shifter, I highly recommend a reverse pattern. I had to drive to Gainesville once to pick up the pieces of my friends car when he hit reverse (trying to go to neutral) in the traps....
If you have some reasonable mechanical skills and an aftermarket shifter, TSR racing has a kit to convert to manual forward pattern for right at $100.

You could install a Transgo Shift kit and use the stick shift option, works every time. Part # PG-2S should cost you 50-75.
