I am going to be racing a small block s-10 with a powerglide next year and was wondering if I am going to need to use a trans cooler? I will be mostly racing 1/8 mile and some 1/4 mile, but no street use. Any input would be great. Thanks

Good idea to run one, especially if your bracket racing. When you get into the later rounds and start hot lapping you need to disapate that heat to stay consistent.

You do want a cooler. A standard in front of the radiator cooler will do.

that brings up a question... Which cooler is better?? is the trany cooler in the radiator, or the one you place in front of the radiator?

Well if it's in the radiator, it can only cool to the temp of the water returning to the engine. If it's in the front it's getting cooler air. If you use both inline find the cooler line that is sending it back to the tranny, route that 1 to the air cooler up front and then back to the return line. If not your not gaining much.

In my opinion a must have for any tranny with a brake. Also remember they say every 20* tempurature drop in your tranny will double the life of it. Heat is the #1 Killer in an automatic tranny..
