:? I have a 454 .030 over running 11.7:1 compression .660 /.666 solid roller comp cam , pro 1 345 heads , victor jr. 454r intake, 850 carb reworked by pro systems with a 1" open spacer . The torque is low do to the big heads but I want to keep them and upgrade to a 540 someday but need to make them work on my 454 for now. Should I not run a spacer or run a 4 hole spacer like a wilson taper spacer and are they worth the money. Thanks.

www.highvelocityheads.com Call these guy's and I think they will be able to help you out with a super sucker spacer.

Give Patrick at Pro Systems a call and he can tell you what will work with your combo. I made the mistake and bought a spacer and then was told my carb/combo the spacer would not work, the dyno showed me he was right. Patrick is a big help, and can save you some $$ and headaches

i personally run the 2 inch aluminum HVH supersucker and i am totally satisfied....
1967 Camaro all steel Pro-street car,tagged titled,insured, 3004 lbs with driver..all on motor with HVH supersucker.and team "g" intake.."naturally aspirated"...smaller big block 511 ci.

5.99 et @ 114 mph......with a 1.32 60 ft......can do this consistanly on gas
( so something is working)...lol :D :D

i now have a port matched 454 r intake along with the HVH supersucker
also have a brand new APD 1150 Alcohol carb......so i am very excited to see where my #'s fall the next time out......

so YES YES YES ON THE HVH SUPERSUCKER.

what don't you start a survey on what spacers evryone is usuing and if they have any dyno sheets........also like if it is a 1 inch spacer 1 1/2 or 2 inch spacer, open hole, four hole,tapered,,......small block or big block ets.

As i think spacers r flooding the market and lots are copy cats and lots are junk........so if we can save a guy a headache from buying a bunch of junk why not.............just a thought

i agree ,..GREAT IDEA..go ahead and start the survey..i will participate.
i am sold on supersucker, this is what i run and well pleased..
i personally think they are all copying one another..hard to say who was the orginal designer of this type spacer...????????..if you look at the super sucker closely bottom and top side and flip over to APD web site..they look almost identical on the swirl bottom side...except the color etc...
i think HVH supersucker has some dyno #'s to go with their product..i am almost sure of it but will not swear to it..

I have a CNC ported intake from Reher Morrison with their 1" spacer and 1/2" reversion plate. My 1050 liked it 1 hp more than the 1250 did, but when I took off the 1/2 reversion plate and put a 1" super sucker on top of the 1" spcacer, the 1250 picked up 8 more hp.

on my Big Duke motor it took 3 yes 3 open spacers. I testedalmost every spacer combo including the supersucker and it supersucked... Every engine WILL be differant.

We ran a super sucker on a very mild 355 in a bracket car and from a 1" moroso spacer to the super sucker we picked up from 7.15(best) to 7.03 the first pass. We really like them and use one on every engine we race!!!!!

And the super suckers must be doing something right, some nascar teams used them in the early 90"s and they was outlawed from all nascar events shortly after people and other teams found out about what they was using....

It went from 1.55-to-1.51 and picked up 2 mph!!!!!

My thoughts on the spacer is, if you picked up that much putting a spacer on you either need a intake swap or a carb change. You should see some gain but not that much.

thank,s for the reply, and the comment about the intake, i have a victor 454 on a 461, did not like the depth, so i tried a half inch, and car did pick up, so want to try a four hole tapered one inch, thanks guys.

We had ran 4 different carbs with extencive jetting on testing nights and we stuck with the most consistant carb, however it was only 2 hundreths off from the fastest carb. We was really close on a carb combo. It did pick up alot, that why we continue to purchace one everytime we sell a engine, they work!!!!!!!!

I've tried/used a lot of different spacers guess I never see them kind of results. But I also do a lot of on track testing with different intakes and carb setups untill I am happy with it.

hammertime have you tested the sniper/sniper jr, or had access, to any feedback, on this intake?

I run a Sniper on my 582, seems to be some gains over a super victor on the track and on the dyno both. Both intake do need some work out of box IMO

I have a 468 edelbrock 315 square port heads, .722-.722 roller cam, 13.3 compression. I have a few options of a intake for this engine, what do you all think I should go with. 4150 series on gas????

what do you guys think about those funnel shaped 2 inch spacers that adapt a dominator onto a 4150 intake? I have a 454-r made for a 4150 but use the adaptor to mount the dominator. Was wondering if I needed to change it...looks like the funnel would help pick up the air velocity.

Pro Products intake IMO would be great for this combo. I've used these intakes they are cheap and castings do need some touch up work but they are proven and work good.

I've actually tried this on a 4500 Super Victor intake to a 4150 carb thought it ran good untill I got tired of looking at the spacer and changed to a Victor JR. Picked up almost .08 on the track. Even better I put a dart/wilson on after that and picked up another .04-.05 I was shocked. Figured I was getting the funnel affect and it would help it also but guess not.

I only used it because that was the intake that I already had...I have no trouble buying a new one if I thought it would run better.

Do you think maybe the victor junior was just a better manifold for your motor or do you think it was removing the spacer that helped? I was thinking a Super Victor would be good on my 540 but I only wind it to 7000 so didn't want to go too big with the intake.

I think the victor jr was just good on my small block. Now my 548 I had a sonny's brodix on and switched to a super victor (it was a td block and I wanted to get rid of spacers) and it slowed down .05 in the 1/4. I'd of love to tried a 454R on my motor I am sure it'd of been the best intake for the job. I think you'll find the same with your motor, speaking with several on these super victors it seems they like 565 and above or very healthy 540/555. The 454R seems to be what is being used a lot on 540's now they are a nice intake and you can normally pick one up here on RJ used for the right price. $125-150 I paid $90.00 for mine off ebay.

i switched to a 454r from TEAM G on my 511CI..but i also had plentum work done ( shortening the two front runners etc..) also had the ports gasket matched etc...very noticable difference in the pedal..can't say how much it picked up the car cause i can't keep the front wheels on the ground without the wheelie bars on car...lol  ....the wheelie bars are now bolted on and ready for next trip.

i would suggest getting the ports gasket matched at minimum as i would suggest with any intake..

In 1996 I sent my 4150 Dart intake to Shafirof to be ported and fitted for a dominator for my 572 . When I received it it had the adapter, I freaked. Anyway I was told to send it back and they would cut a big hole in the top to direct mount the 4500 carb and lose power. It works for us( I think) but this is all I ran. One thing for sure, there is extensive port work on the adapter and the top of the intake where they are blended together, thats 11 yrs ago, and now I see a lot of others doing it to,(Reher Morrison) funnel ram for one, good luck.

Dyno the engine, we some engines on our dyno loose power with the spacers. Yet some engine pick up power. The only way to tell for sure is dyno the engine, every combination is different.
