1 piece rear main ?

i've got a sbc w/ 1 piece rear main . i've got a leak. not sure if it's seal or pan. can i remove the flex plate and run the engine to see what is leaking?

I don't think if you remove the flex plate you'll be able to start the engine,unless you have other means of starting it

But you can change the seal if you remove the flex plate :P
