Power steering question.

I took off the power steering pump from my car, a 74 Camaro and it still turns pretty easy, it is fairly light in the front.

My questions is, will this cause the steering to fail or break something? I still use the power steering column. We only use it to drag race.

It won't break or anything outside of normal wear. You can either loop the lines in the box or cap them, as long as their is fluid in it.
