call bmf a divison of cfe. that's truly the best head on the market. My experience with the sb2.2 head is unless the power adder is flowing the head has bad qualities, or if you are turning it hard and it stays up in the rpm then it's good.

Sounds like the SB2.2 experience you had was with old used nascar
stuff trying to make it work for something it wasn't built for.
A properly designed sb2.2 built for drag racing will kick butt, ..
notice all of them being run in comp, .. I have some 900+hp
engines out there with cast single 4, .. ..

I agree on the SB heads, our house 420 ci.in. super late model dirt car must pull from 4000 rpm on restarts so we cant cam them like a drag race engine.this engine makes 844 H.P. with 691 lbs torque. the same combination with a larger cam and carb makes well over 900 H.P. Bill

Bill,

Are you using SB2.2's on your super late model?

Yes we are,the current head is a 5C Hendrick its about 6 years old with a 286 c.c. int.we also have run the 8C which has a 322 c.c. runner but was down on torque.we just got the latest 10C which is 300 c.c. with a laid back combustion chamber but haven't had the time to test it.Bill

perfconn, .. yea I know the 1st gen sb2's aren't run anymore, ..
I was asking if he was running a sb2.2 or a wedge cause his post
wasn't clear in that regard.

Bill,

I've got a few hedricks sets in the shop, .. I'll have to look and see
if they are 8c, 10c etc.

Also just had a set of JGR 2007 open heads here.
Ports where very close to the open head I build, .. as well as some
of the drag / comp eliminator stuff.

Just finished a 13.5* wedge port set, ..
Brodix GB series 13.5* head.

2.2" intake 1.58" ex, 298cc intake, 2.9 csa.

I work in the engine room at JGR and I know we sold the older heads but the newer heads are still in the pile upstairs.

We havent run any SB2 heads this year except for about 3 races before the R07.

I didn't say I bought them, .. but I did have a set come through my shop,
current spec head, originally done by Fultz, .. they where here for little
over a week just over a month ago.

3.5" csa at the opening, other specs I won't post in public, . ..

as for thr R07, .. I hear it's a killer head, ..
I know of a current development that's seeing 380 cfm @ .500"
and 450cfm @ .800" Nice strait port not the offset opening like the SB2.2
