i finaly saved up for a hogan's intake and tried asking about the
intake and boy they sure made me feel stupid. I got the same treatment
from other companies as well and i'm sitting on 10k to finish my
car, sometimes I just don't want to call and email and never hear
back from them, they act like their doing me a favor, when I'm the
one who's doing them a favor, I guess i need to get mean and act
like them, a jackass, anybody else get the same treatment :(

Show Those Creeps Who Is Stupid By Taking Your Money To A Friendly Competitor. Your Money Is Power, Use That Power To Punish.
I Have Found In Business That When People Are Creeps Before They Get Your Money, They Only Become Worse After Getting Your Money.
Tell Them That Their Attitude Sucks And That Their Competitors Are Getting The Business.
It's Garbage Like That Who Can't Figure Out What Went Wrong As They Fill Out Bankruptcy Papers.

brian you are my brother from another mother, i saved the 10k to
purchase a lift truck for my sign business, but had no where to park
it. I was then going to puchase a digital printer but they acted like
I could not afford it, so its time to finish the nova, and I have
the power of money, like racefab57 said it best. BUT I JUST GOT
TO HAVE A HOGAN'S INTAKE

I have been treated as you described. It sucks to be paying and getting attitude. I e-mailed a magazine where they advertised and I was assured the word would get back to them. Don't know if it did but it made me feel better.

There is nobody with a bigger attitude than a engine builder excluding a few that i have seen post on here( you know who you are ). Just my opinion, maybe its just the engine builders in Dallas area.

davis419b you need to talk to Wes at RMRE he was very helpful with me before I even told him I would buy a engine from them and has been the same all the way through. Hope you have good luck with them. Wesley

I've been calling about motor parts and know what I want and there is always a few people who tell me no thats not what you want. I love them places when they start telling me this is what you need not that I say I got the money and will spend it somewhere no matter what so just give me prices for what I want.
We are the ones paying the bills for these people they should start acting like it !!!

Woodsman, The motor i am running is a RMRE 565/HR which i believe is what you have. My buddy bought it from them at the beginning of the year. The motor smoked like a friegt train but it was fast. I bought it at the end of the year from him. First thing i did was call them to see why it was smoking. They put me through to Johnny, he pulled the build sheet and told me it was the material the second ring was made out of, did not make alot of since to me. The motor had 150 runs on it so we decided to pull the intake and change the lifters and springs. When we got the intake off the back side of the intake valves that were closed were covered with about 3oz. of oil each. As it turned out it turned out the bolts that hold the rocker stamds did not seal! We fixed the problem and it turned out that the second ring was a backcut ring which didnt make any since. At the end of that year the cheap GM windage tray had broke off into little pieces, clogged and sucked the in, and went into the oil pump locking it up and breaking the oil pump shaft. As you know it lost oil pressure and was finished. When i had it freshened we found the second ring thing! Also the main bearings were cut down in width. Some of these things i dont agree with just to get a few HP. But in thier behalf every time we have taled to them they have not had an attitude i just didnt take it back there to be freshend.

Woodsman, Check your build sheet to see what oil pan it has on it. Mine was a Moroso, I believe it was a 30270c. The c means custom which means R/M had Moroso leave thier windage out so they could use the GM windage. The guy who owned it before me replaced it twice in a 150 runs, just forgot to tell me about it until i told him of my problem.

well i did not want to give MSD a bad note but i emailed them wanting
a system that would be distributorless for a gen 4 bbc, they replied
"we don't make any thing for that" well i emailed them back and asked
what they had that would make it easy and able to plug in a computer
to adjust the timing and other functions to be computerized, well its been
a wk and a half and they have not answered, and i wanted to purchase
all MSD so as to have a flawless system, but now i think i will go
with Mallory, i guess im just too little for them, don't have big
sponsors, well my sponsor right now is CASH

I love and hate emails....
I have emailed companies before and some reply some dont, some a very short reply, not really answering your questions...
I am sure a lot of companies get hundereds emails a day and perhaps spam filters delete some important emails. Make sure what is in your subject line makes sense to the guy on the other end otherwise your email may be mistaken as spam...
I have always found for important information, a couple of bucks for a long distance phone call can help more than all the emails in the world.
Have a list of questions ready and get the quy talking.
As far as companies with attitudes, I had found one convertoer company like that, I will just go and buy elsewere.
As far as them telling me what I want, well, I think by know I kind of know, and will tell them so, but that is different from asking for say a cam or converter recomendation.
Usually the guy on the other end is only trying to get you to buy a higher priced item, the ol' bait and switcht game.
A year ago, i went into stables business depot looking for a printer, they had a nice lexmark on sale, 60 bucks or something, I asked the sales guy if they had anymore, He said, " yes but you dont want one of those, they have terrible ink yeild, you want one of these canon printers (120 bucks)." I said, well then, why do you carry lexmark? He said something about a corporate desicion to carry them.
They didnt get a sale that day, thinking back I should have gone to his manager.

hey mcracecars
thanx for the reply, well i started out calling and paying for the call
but thats why the post is called "they make u fell stupid", every
time i would call, MSD, Tom's differentials, Chris Alston, Lunati,
crane cams, and too many to mention, even the parts dealer like
summit, jeg's, they let you know that you don't know what you want.
and then the part you want won't work for what you want. but in the
late 70's thru 80's i ordered my camshafts from Chet Herbert, and
the man would answer the phone himself and would talk to you and
find out what you wanted in the cam then custom grind a cam and
send it to me w/lifter for $35. and i still have one for a sbc.
Chet never made you feel stupid even when I was building my first
sbc, a good man. his son is Doug Herbert
take care :)
