I talked to this guy BIGDOGB here is his add 899758-i talked to him on monday and he said he would bring his blazer down friday and be at my house saturday-keep in mind we have not seen each others cars in person this guy has no profile which i do.i took down my add and someone contacted me tuesday evening and offered me a fully tubbed 10 sec all motor fresh s10 blazer and wanted to bring it that night he was asking 11,500 for the s10 blazer.the guy brought it down and to my surprise traded me(i had a nice 96 z28 with some motor work done-clean car) and after i did the deal i emailed big dog that night which was tuesday and explained i just couldnt pass the deal up,he was not going to drive down until friday evening,i think i gave him plenty of notice and was honest about what i did-and he even told me earlier his truck was not worth 6,500 that he was asking-no look at his add he is bad mouthing me,do i deserve that? :?:

From what you have said you had every right to first come first served.
If dog had given you a deposit then I would say you had a responsibility to hold it.
One thing I might have done differently was to email dog before you met this other guy and given him the opportunity to bring his car down the same day and allow you to choose between the two, but that is just me.
I am sure opinions on this will vary widely.
Still he should not be bad mouthing you if he is.

WACKED---YOUR ONE STATEMENT HANGS YOU OUT TO DRY--["I TOOK DOWN MY ADD"]---SO OTHERWISE YOU WERE PLANNING ON THIS DEAL WITH BIGDOG---I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE SAY FIRST COME FIRST SERVED BUT YOUR WORD AND ACTION YOU TOOK SAID THAT YOU WOULD WAIT TILL HE GOT THERE[--YOU DIDN'T]---YOU SHOULD HAVE NOTIFIED HIM AND TOLD HIM ABOUT THE OFFER AND WENT FROM THERE/ HE MIGHT HAVE AGREED BUT HE MIGHT NOT OF EITHER/---GOOD LUCK BUT PUT YOURSELF IN HIS SHOES BECAUSE ONE DAY IT MIGHT BE YOU ON THE OTHER END!!!---LIVELY---

I would have let him bring his truck but he lives in Ashville NC. which is six hours away-there was no guarantee he was going to show up,there was no guarantee i would have done the trade with him.The guy with the s10 showed up 1.5 hours after i got off the phone with him.I feel like anyone would have done the same-i got one hell of a truck out of the deal

whatever lively-what do you mean i should have called him,it was my car i could have done the deal and told him i wrecked the car or blew the motor to smooth things out. i was honest and gave him plenty of time to change his plans.what if he wouldnt have showed up what if,what if.i could understand if i waited until the day of the trade and did this.BOTTOM LINE WHEN I SEE SOMETHING I WANT I GO GET IT RIGHT THEN RIGHT THERE,THAT WAY I KNOW I GOT IT.BIRD IN THE HAND IS BETTER THAN 2 IN THE BUSH[/img]

Had you not come looking for opinions you would have not gotten any and I and everyone else would never known your id is mentioned in the mans ad 2 times.....And lively, you keep on reminding people about the honor payment, as I have seen you do it for over a year now whether they been on here 1 day or 4 years...Honor Payments are like paying a man for his labor, some just think they don't owe you for some reason....

wtf are you talkin about?i have been watching for awhile and you and a few others act like you are admins, who are you to correct other people...this is a free site if i choose to make an honor payment so be it,it is my choice not for you to demand that they be done.i do make honor payments so go jump off a cliff- i also try to be a honest person and do good business, that is why i mentioned my profile-i have feedback from people that have done business with me........

You are getting a little out of line here.
We are a tight knit group and we do support RJ.
Now as far as the honor payment goes, many of us will remind everyone that comes in here asking advice and making a sale to make an honor payment.
No need to come back and bash someone for giving you a reminder.
RJ does not operate for free and we have seen many many people not make honor payments. Those help keep this site running and free.
As you said it is your chioce to make a pymnt or not and it is our choice to remind you or not.
If you do not like it I suggest not seeking advice in here.
As far as the remark about all being admins is again out of line.
Chill out and think about it for a bit and I think you will see we are right on this one.
Thank you!

whatever-if you looked in my profile i make honor payments, but i do it by choice-not because of a couple of guys who do nothing but sit on this site and act like they run it.yes i did ask for opinions because i felt like the guy was a little off with his comments on his add.i replied to the guy who said i should have called and ask the guy if it was alright if i traded my car -bottom line it is my car and i traded to who i wanted to trade to,it was my choice.i am not trying to be rude-but comments like'hung myself out to dry' whatever i am not trying to start a a bunch of crap.i made my first honor payment before i evn sold or traded a car on this sight,so go preach to someone else

Rant on.
Honor payments, something I would've liked to do, but the last couple years have been very trying and had to sell everything I had to cover past due bills, house payments and such. And guess what? I still lost my house. Most of my deals here have been trades, but whatever cash I did get went from my hand to the bill collectors, none to spare. Now you say "Why couldn't you make a $10 honor payment?" Because I needed literally every penny to live, you know: eat and gas to get to work.
And this place is free, if it cost money, there wouldn't be half the people here. Sure, it would keep some of the riff-raff out but geesh. When the time comes that my finances stabilise, I'll make good here.
/Rant off.

You asked for opinoins and you got them. You are right it was your car and you can make the best deal for you, but when you took down your ad it was kind of like making a deal with the other guy. Like they said if you would have called the other guy he may have made the trip.

yes i did ask for opinions-i just didnt like the way lively told me i hung nyself out to dry-thought that was a little strong
no i was not looking for a pat on the back-i just felt like i had given the guy plenty of time to make other arrangements i mean i talked to him on monday i traded on tuesday and contacted him tues. night he was not planning on leaving until friday night
yes i could have let him make the six hour trip to take a look at his truck-and then picked between the 2-but he would have made the trip for nothing,i would have taken the s10 anyway
i could have been dishonest with him and said the trans went or the motor started knocking-but i was honest
i try to be fair with everyone and i am honest, and maybe i took some of the opinions the wrong way and if i pissed anyone off MY APPOLOGIES
i just felt he was a little wrong in posting that on his add

Boy I could be wrong but I see you did nothing wrong. If you didn't have a set deal then all is good. But if I tell someone I will hold something for them I will do it.< If that was the case you are in the wrong. But to me it sounded like you two were going to look at each others cars and maybe make a deal. It sounds like the deal was lop sided and may not have happened any way. Coming from the other guys stand point: If the deal was so good for him, he should have drove down right away.
As far as the honor payment reminder. You are taking that way to hard. Im sure the site could use the money and some one bringing it up is hurting no one.

thanks fellas,i really love this site it is so addicting.the trade would have been kinda lopped-later he told me the blazer had no interior,no carpet,a hole in the floor where the transfer case shifter used to be,bumpers had one bolt keeping them on,and the rear seal on the tranny was leaking.i got really lucky with this s10,i took it to super chevy this past weekend and it ran 11.04 in 90 degree heat-so i am extremly happy.
I would like to see a whole bunch of pics of blazer, motor sides inside etc, I like blazers , a lil bit

Personally, i feel if you gave a man 3 days notice for whatever reason thats plenty of notice...day of the deal or day before is a lil much but 3 days is ok by me..ive been welched on more than i care to think and as long as i have that kind of notice its ok.. just because you are trying to trade doesnt mean you are married to the deal..a dhange of mind isnt illegal and no one was out money with that kind of notice..Just my Opinion of course

Nice looking blazer you got there wacked, I'm sure your thinking you got the good deal here.
If the other guy traded with you, then he probably thinks he got the good deal, and well everyone knows what the defintion of a good deal is:
"When both guys think the other guy got SCREWED!
I got a good deal on here too, in fact I'm still working on it, it's a roller I traded for my 68 chevelle driver, cant wait to get it running, it ought to be a hauss with that big iron in it.
