Hi everyone,

I am currently working on my 1968 Mustang & need some advice to improve its drag racing performance.

The car is equipped with an Edelbrock intake; Flowmaster exhaust & a 4.10 rear gear ratio, but I’m looking to achieve more consistent launches and better traction on the strip.

what suspension setup /tires would you recommend for improving launch consistency; and are there any specific brands or configurations that have worked well for you? I have checked https://www.racingjunk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7aws developer (https://www.igmguru.com/cloud-computing/aws-developer-certification-training) guide for reference .

Additionally; should I consider switching to a different rear gear ratio to enhance top-end speed? I have a budget of around $3,000 for this phase of upgrades and am based in Texas, so I’d also appreciate any suggestions for local shops or suppliers.

Thanks in advance !

To improve launch consistency and traction, focus on upgrading the rear suspension (shocks and control arms), using drag-specific tires, and consider a slightly higher gear ratio if you want to balance acceleration and top speed. Also, make sure your differential is capable of handling the power efficiently.
