1987 Chevy Monte Carlo 383 4 speed manual drag race
87 Monte with a 388 cubic inch stroker, ported heads, full roller, 425 HP. Power brute super t 10 4 speed, Lakewood bellhousing. Ford 9", aftermarket 31 spline axles, Detroit locker, housing has 1/4" tubes good for 600 hp. Aftermarket boxed control arms with poly bushings. Well built solid car.
It has been repainted but it's the orginal color. The paint job wasn't a show car job but it's good for a driver.
The motor is a 388 stroker, ported and polished heads, 1.437 valve springs, screw in studs and guide plates, roller cam, 1.6 roller rockers. About 9.5 to 1 compression. Fully balanced with aftermarket crank and rods. Floating pin rods, Weiland Stealth intake with a 750 Edlebrock carb. Car has been tuned with a wide band O2 sensor. It has an honest 425 HP. Crane HI-6 ignition. The Rev limiter is set to like 5,400 and never has been changed. It wants to pull strong past 5,400 but it has awesome low end power so no need to wind it up. It shreds the tires.
The transmission is a power brute super t-10. They never came in a vehicle it was a GM performance part built for drag racing. It has an iron housing verses the aluminum housing, stronger gears and lower gear ratios. When I got the transmission there was still assembly grease inside of it and the faces of the gears still had to black heat treating on it. It hasn't been used much and is a very tight transmission.
It has an aftermarket Ford 9" with heavy duty 1/4" tubes. 2.75 gears, 31 spline axles with a Detroit locker. Aftermarket boxed control arms with poly bushings. I also have 3.55 and 4.86 gears for extra cost as well. I used 3.55 and the first two gears in the transmission were worthless since it would juat spin. 2.75 is nice because you can still shed the tires but cruise down the highway at a decent speed without turning very many rpms.
Interior is all orginal so it has wear and signs of aging. It's clean and I consider it a daily driver grade. New carpet and head liner would dress it up really nice for not that much money or time.
Will trade for cash only!
Roller, full floater rearend, pull bar setup. Includes everything in the pictures except transmission, transmissions cooler/filters, transmission yoke, and gears. The rims in poor shape and the tires are scab tires.
Includes fairly new sbc shoenfeld headers, seat cover, driveshaft, and axles. I also have various spare suspension bars as well.
