In our opinion, a seasoned block that we have gone over with our CNCs is a better foundation than a new block new from GM. It certainly offers more value. We push these seasoned 6.0L blocks over 1,000 hp with no problem. The stock GM cranks are cast not forged, so they need to upgraded way before hitting 1,000 hp. We like them up to around 600 hp depending upon the application.

The seasoned block and crank are given the love they deserve on our CNCs allowing them to hit higher levels of performance than new because they now have essentially perfect dimensions, balance and surface finish. We use Manley Extreme Duty Platinum pistons and rods to complete the rotating assembly. The forged H-beam rods are made with 4340 alloy. The pistons are made from 2168 alloy with wrist pins of 9310 alloy. The forgings are domestic and these parts are loaded with features.
Think you need a stronger crank? We use Callies Compstar center-counterweighted cranks in both stock and 4.000 inch stroke with this block for our LS builds over 600 hp. This $800 upgrade opens the door to more aggressive top-end mods and use of power adders. Dish versions of these pistons are available to lower the compression ratio for boosted applications.
