You could buy a generic SBC crate engine with way less power that was assembled in Mexico and made from no-name Chinese parts, but that's not how you roll. You've put a lot into your street ride and you want an engine to be proud of. It needs to have some real power, and both sound and look great. You were thinking an LS swap but with this power, why bother? This is an easy drop-in with all the power you need.
While people tend to focus on horsepower, low-end torque is critical for a hot street ride. You want tire-shredding power on demand at low rpm when you stomp on the gas. This engine delivers 565 lb-ft of peak torque and an average of 510 lb-ft across the band of 4,000 to 6,800 rpm (see dyno data in the photo spread). Its ready when you are! Be sure to check out the dyno video with a good sound system to get the feel of what this would be like under your hood.
This one has your name on it. With a Dart SHP iron block as the foundation, you get priority main oiling along with a host of other strength and performance features. The precision-balanced rotating assembly consists of boasts forged crank, rods and pistons so that you will have a really stout short block.
Technology has changed a lot since the SBC was introduced back in the 1950’s. For street rides, hydraulic roller cams are the only way to go as they are maintenance-free and provide exceptional reliability and durability. This engine features a custom grind hydraulic roller cam from Comp Cams. Topside features Dart 23 degree SHP heads with billet roller rockers. These heads are mated with a Dart dual-plane aluminum manifold. Bringing spark to light it all up is an Allstar point-style size distributor with vacuum advance and electronic ignition technology made of CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum.
Fuel injection that looks like a carb combines the new technology with the old school look hidden under your traditional air filter. The Holley Sniper EFI is a very powerful tool which works seamlessly with the distributor to control engine timing and air-fuel ratios. Vehicle connection for the EFI requires only 4 wires: battery +/-, switched ignition and RPM. Everything is included to completely plumb your fuel system including; 40 feet of 3/8” EFI Hose, in-line fuel pump, post and pre-fuel filters, return bulkhead, and all of the necessary fittings and hardware. The included handheld interface allows you to monitor engine operating conditions, set rev limits and control external devices such as fans.
An engine like this should look like it was made specifically for your ride. Still want your carb? No problem, we’ll build it your way. For finishing touches, we will work with you to achieve the exact look that you want on valve covers, paint, etc. Pricing includes the fabricated aluminum valve covers as shown but you have whatever you want. Ignition wires also come in a range of colors. With these custom touches, there will be no doubt that this engine belongs under the hood of your ride!
