This may very well be the most badass Subaru Legacy in North America. Currently, the car is setup for hillclimb/tarmac rally, but can be converted to a full-time track car with different coilovers OR gravel/dirt rally with minimal investment.
This car won the New England Hillclimb Association S1-class championship in 2013 (a link below). Video included of one of the hillclimbs (1st place) from that year. The car has been raced in about 20 events total by the previous owner / driver / builder (including 2 NASA rally events).
FIA-homogolated roll cage from Custom Cages (for ARA, etc) with certificate.
Powered by an EJ207 from a JDM S202 STI and Garrett GTX3076R. The motor redlines after 8,200 RPM and is considered the most fun Subaru motor to wring out on a track (despite its lower displacement).
Driveline is the original STI 6spd with added 4.44 final drive and more aggressive clutch-plate front LSDs, and viscous center-diff.
Tuned by a former DSM open source tuner, multiple dynographs available showing 280 ~ 330+whp. The power plant could support quite a bit more power, but the car was tuned (and then downtuned) for reliability.
Powertrain/full-swap has less than 4,000 miles (total, since new in Japan, 2002). The previous owner built the car and purchased the halfcut/swap from an importer in Japan.
RS&SP suspension (gravel spec) w/ is 50mm remote reservoirs and hydraulic bump stocks, K-MAC suspension top-mounts, and modified aluminum front control arms, adjustable rose joint rear arms.
Quick-ratio steering rack.
‘Terraquip’ rally computer.
Transmission and engine oil coolers/heat exchangers in the foglight cavities.
Was road legal in MA (where it was originally registered and garaged between events. Is now road legal in Texas, as well (registered with Texas plates). The car is a 1995, so it will likely be ODBII-exempt in most states.
The car absolutely rips when boost comes online with the GTX3076R turbo, turns into corners predictively, and offers unreal levels of grip.
NEHA results from 2013 can be found here:* http://www.hillclimb.org/events/even...2011-2020.html. Video of a 1st place hillclimb in 2013: https://vimeo.com/73411817.
At the asking price, this is a screaming bargain for an AWD or Subaru enthusiast. Parts value of the car alone exceeds my asking price (4,000mi power plant, big brakes, Raceline Corse wheels, and RS&SP suspension components).
