Started life as a 1970 Ram Air III 400 and currently has a displacement of 462 inches. Above Added: Fri January 26, 2018, 7:55 pm PST


This is the engine that was in my dragster, and ran in a 8.0 index in. We have built a new engine to run in the 7.0 Index. It was completely rebuilt from a bare block after the second race of this season and run in the remaining four races. The engine runs perfect and took me to third place overall in the ProComp class of the NDRL series.

This is a run from the last race of the season at Bowling Green at the Good Guys Heritage race. We had dialed an 8.0 in the quarter and ran an 8.029. This engine is very tune-able. https://youtu.be/XQnfcERZot4

I have developed a list of parts in the engine.

Starting from the top and working my way down.

But First.
Fuel pump was calibrated by Spud Miller of Fuel Injection Enterprises. He provided the initial Tune and that documentation is include in the sale. In addition my tune notes are also included and they are for tuning to an 8.0 index. Engine was dynoed by Engine Performance Specialties at 811 HP and had to be detuned to run 8.0 at 166 MPH. My best guess is we are running at 713 HP. See picture below.

The engine was torn down to a bare block June of this year (2017) new billet four bolt main ProLine caps, Clevite bearings, Venolia aluminum rods, Eagle forged Crankshaft were installed. The engine was line honed by Freedom Racing Engines in Brownsburg In.

Since then the engine has been in my Front Engine Dragster and took us to a Third place in overall points in the Proc Comp class of the NDRL Series. This engine responds very well to tuning inputs.
