Moroso SBC billet alum. Spur-Gear wet sump oil pumps are chosen by top engine builders in the racing world for their performance and delivering of the engines life blood pass after pass, mile after mile.
Moroso billet aluminum spur gear oil pumps feature special anti-cavitation slots, feeder grooves and an enlarged bypass area that are machined into the housing to bleed oil back to the inlet side of the pump. They combine to offer a smooth and consistent flow of oil, which improves the oil pumps overall performance, extends engine life and places an even loading on the distributor shaft to eliminate spark scatter. The pumps housing is machined from billet alum and anodized for corrosion protection and pump durability.
The gear and inner rotor shaft assemblies are matched to maintain absolute minimum clearances and provide maximum volumetric efficiency. Oil pump gears are supported by a thrust bearing assembly that will increase oil pump housing and spur gear life due to drive shaft axial forces on the drive gear not being subjected to side-load.
Oil pump is considered hi-volume and standard pressure, perfect for race motors. Pump has a perforated pick-up that bolts on to the bottom of the oil pump, measures 2.750" x 1.125" that allows plenty of oil flow to the engine. One more cool feature is oil pump assm. weights one pound less than a stock SBC cast iron oil pump. Oil pump is designed to clear up to 4.250" stroke on the crankshaft. Oil pump is used with Moroso 8.250" deep Chevrolet Small Block oil pans.
Small Block Chevy Oil Pumps (Cast & Billet):
Heavy pressure spring – Purple Color – 60 to 70 p.s.i. (At operating temperatures)
Light pressure spring – Brown Color – 50 to 60 p.s.i. (At operating temperatures)
NOTE: This pump is assembled at the factory with a purple high pressure spring. If a lower oil pressure is desired install the (brown) oil pressure spring, included with this pump.
