1994 Toyota Celica GT ex Long Beach Grand Prix Pro/Celebrity Race Car (#1). You might already know the history of these cars, but they were built exclusively for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach for the pro/celebrity charity race. They were built by Dennis Aase and this is the first one (1 etched into the lower corner of windshield). I believe this was a back-up car, never used in the actual race. Once the race switched to the newer chassis, these went to Fast Lane Racing School to be used as instructional cars, where they eventually made their way into the hands of private racers.
I've had this car for a few years now. I bought it initially to get started in club racing and it served that purpose very well. I did track days with it first for testing and to see what needs updating and improvement. I went ahead and updated the car mechanically and to be up to safety spec (updated roll cage, new seat, new harness, new fire system) and went to racing school. After completion, I finally used it last year in NASA PTF and got my first racing trophy as well as completed my provisional requirements to receive my competition license. It's been a fantastic car and without a doubt is one of the cheapest and most efficient ways to get started in racing. Not just initially, but the operating costs are very low (2 sets of tires will last an entire season).
With new class changes in NASA, this car now qualifies for ST6, which will require a few changes to be competitive in. It should also be good to go in SCCA "IT" and any HPDE, autocross, or club racing event. I'm selling it because I plan on building another car that will run in a higher class. If you have any additional questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm sure there are more to the car including spare parts and documentation that I have that will go with it. It will be sold with a Bill of Sale only since these cars never received titles.
