This is a Harley-Davidson 1967 Police Special FLH Motorcycle comes with CLEAR title and keys.
My Dad, (an Arizona native & farmer/rancher also a survivor and hero of the sinking of the Naval Cruiser Ship The U.S.S. Indianapolis) purchased this Electro Glide Phoenix Police FLH Shovelhead at Auction in 1971. It had previously been in service for the Phoenix Police Department. The VIN number is on the engine.
This bike turned 52 years old this year (2019), and we (my father and then myself) have owned the bike for 48 years. I can testify that my father cherished this Harley (especially because his first Harley, a 1962 Pan-head was stolen from him).
He maintained this cruiser regularly and rode it for fun around the farm. Sadly he passed away in 1995. I have kept the bike carefully covered and stored (taking it for a spin occasionally) until recently when I decided that the bike ought to find a new owner to cherish it and take care of it.
I researched thoroughly to find a "motorcycle maintenance genius" that inspected it and then completed the 3rd Major Maintenance (please see details below).
In 1967 the "Harley-Davidson" corporation produced what was at the time the highest quality motorcycles yet, sadly 1969 was the last year the original Harley-Davidson motorcycles were built.
In 1970, AMF purchased the Harley Davidson name, the company then became "AMF Harley-Davidson" which then promptly started out-sourcing the production needs. Quality tanked along with the Harley image. Around 1985, some of the original staff of Harley had been working on a buyout and also a new motor design. The "Evolution" - it reclaimed the Harley-Davidson name and they were back.
