1968 Camaro

Chassis/suspension. This car was built at No Limit Engineering to test and display the Sniper IFS. Information on the IFS can be found on our site, at www.nolimit.net. This is a true hi performance front subframe and suspension package at the top tier of Pro-Touring / Time attack / Auto-X / and Track days. The concept of this car was to show the ability of the suspension and chassis products, with any driver. (this was the reason for a SBC and TH350) Famous Camaros like the Velocity Camaro and Dave H’s Rebel-1 use this suspension. Yes, it fits a 315 tire under the stock fender. – and has a 40 degree steering angle. More than any other IFS on the market. The rear suspension is a custom fitted offset three link. To fit this the rear floor was raised, so there is no back seat, but it has a nice flat deck for gear. The rear suspension also features a rocker arm system, so the rear sway bar and coil-overs are in the trunk. The rear link’s all use a special delron lined full pivot adjuster for the smoothest possible ride and no binding. All four coil-overs are RideTech HQ singles. Speedway engineering splined sway bars front and rear. The rack is a Coleman Racing servo drive unit with valving matched to the pump. Moser 9” with floating hubs, aluminum carrier with a Detroit True-Track and 3.73 gears. The chassis was strengthened with fitted weld in subframe connectors, a custom 6 point cage, No Limit F-body Side Rail Stiffeners, and also has DSE mini tubs installed. Additional bracing was added for the three link installation. The car drives smooth and is very predictable.

Brakes. We installed one of our No Limit Balance bar master mounts fitted to the OE firewall and pedal. This was a factory 4 speed car, but we built this so that anyone could drive it, So, the Clutch pedal was removed (mount is still in place). The master mount has a location for a clutch master if the trans is changed to a manual. The balance bar with Wilwood masters is very tunable and easy to balance. Wilwood check valves are also installed. All of the brake line plumbing is new. We choose TBM 13” wave cut rotors and TBM 4 piston calipers on all four corners. The brakes are excellent, easy to modulate and very controllable. This car will give you lots of driver confidence.

Driveline. As stated, we chose a “normal platform”. 383 stroker with Scat rotating assembly, 4 bolt block and Vortec heads. Lunati Cam and Edelbrock intake. This is a solid package putting over 400 HP to the tire. The engine is topped with an MSD billit distributor and a FITech EFI system. The trans is a TH350, all TCI internals with a TCI valve body. The trans shifts manual, with engine braking in 1rst and 2nd gear, third gear is like normal. This combo works fantastic for a spirited driver as well as a devastating Auto-X car. Standard pulleys with a 100 amp alternator and custom Turn-1 power steering pump. The car has an aluminum radiator, with twin fans, as well as a P/S cooler and trans cooler.

Interior. This car was really clean when we started. We wanted a ‘classic’ street machine look. Stock gauges that all work, plus the chrome bezel gauges and tach. Very 1980. Pro car seats on modified tracks to move the seat position back 3” from stock. 5 point harnesses on both seats. Steering column in an IDIDIT tilt/telo so it can be adjusted to fit anyone. All new wiring via an American Autowire harness. Trunk mounted battery with a cut-off. Also has a No Limit aluminum fuel tank with an Aeromotive stealth-340 in tank pump. Again, everything works. ** The OE heater was removed. There is no Air or heat. A Vintage Air unit will fit right in.

Exterior/body. Pretty much untouched. The rear spoiler is custom, but that’s about it. The car is very solid. No rust at all in the floors or wheel houses. Pass. Rear wheel opening has a crack under the trim. The rockers were replaced at some point, and the paint work is so/so. Good from 30 ft. The front inner fenders were widened 1 ½” for tire clearance, painted semi-gloss black to match. There are some scratches and a small bubble on the roof. I estimate the paint is 25 yrs old. Wheels are Forgeline with Falken tires. Tires are 50%, it comes with a spare set of scrubs.

The good. This is a solid clean turn-key corner killer. Start it and drive it. Everything works, even the wipers. It is fast, safe and fun to drive. You can take this car to any GoodGuys, Optima, or SCCA event and do well and have fun. That’s what it was built to do. It will not disappoint.

The bad. It’s not a show car. It’s a driver. The paint and interior could be dolled up. It’s not LS powered and it doesn’t have a 6 speed. It was built to showcase the suspension/steering and brakes. (and it does that VERY well).
