Olds Big Chief heads with titanium valves, Merlin X aluminum block, Jesel rockers, Jesel belt drive, Moroso pan, Crower lifters, Dart tunnel ram, Chuck Nuytten twin 1150 Dominator carbs, MSD crank trigger, ATI balancer, JE gas ported pistons with around 16:1 compression ratio, Childs and Albert rods, Trick Flow 4340 crank. Engine had 30-40 passes on it since freshened and had a head gasket failure. We bracket race and only run naturally-aspirated so no, it wasn’t nitrous-related. I believe it to be a faulty gasket. Had Fel-Pro on it when it happened. It’s still on the block so whomever wants can check it out and inspect it any way they like. Block needs the deck welded. If your welder is good and knows his stuff, you may get away without sleeving those two cylinders where the gasket let go, otherwise plan on spending the money for that as well. Minimal money to spend to get it going again. Yes I have the money to fix it. I don’t have the car for it at the moment. Someone will get a great deal on an all aluminum set up. Head has already been repaired and heads are ready to go. Short block is still assembled. Cost $35k to build when new. I’m not selling because I need the money. I just sold the car and trailer it was for.
