I have up for sale a very nice 55 Chevy two door post. The car is and has been a south Texas car since it was new. This car was originally built about 20 years ago.
The Pink on the car is original to the build, the white was redone recently.
The car runs and drives real nice. It has good power but is not a race car by any means. This car was built to drive.
The motor is a 454 with a three speed auto. The motor has a very nice serpentine belt system on it. The automatic shifter is on the column, which I myself really like.
The springs where just moved in to the frame rails. The frame was pocketed for the front of the springs to mount in to. They did a nice job on it.
The rearend is a 9 inch with what I am guessing are 4:11-4:56. It could use a gear change if a guy is going to do a ton of highway driving. We took it on a couple hundred mile drive about a week ago and on the freeway it is going low to mid 60s at about 3 grand on the tach.
The interior is in real nice shape. As you can see on the pics, the seat fabric in some spots is faded a little from the sun, but nothing a little dye wouldnt take care of. It has aftermarket door panels that house the power window switches. I believe all the glass was replaced except for the windshield. The windshield is fine, but it could use a new one as it is probably the original, and you can see the marks from half a century of wipers going back and forth...
The power windows work perfectly. The original wiper system is all in tact.
It has a real nice aftermarket dash insert that house all the gauges, along with the tach and speedo. It all works, however the speedo is off about 20 mph...
The wheels look like they are almost new, and the tires are in great shape.
The car has got a great stance. The original wheel tubs where just widened about four inches for tire clearance.
It has disk brakes on the front, and drum on the rear and the brakes work perfect.
Dont really know what else to say. It is just a real nice car. It is not perfect, but I am not asking 60-70 grand for it. It is a great driver and it draws attention like you would not believe.
To be real nice, I would fix a couple little spots on the rocker that are starting to come through, where they all do, and repaint the bottom whatever color you want.
As for trades, it is possible. I have recently joined up with the guys starting the Southeast Gasser Association here in Texas, so I might be interested in something along those lines. Or who knows what might peak my interest.
A late model low mileage three quarter ton or one ton 4x4 pickup might also be something of interest.
