I love how the mayor of Baltimore blamed the police for the spike in crime and murders. She says the lack of opportunities for young black men, bolstered by the ineffectiveness of the police, has been the major contributor of crime in the city. Do you think that if the young black men finished school, stopped having kids out of wedlock at the age of16, 17, or 18, and stayed out of trouble they would have more opportunities? Maybe if they didn't dress like thugs and pulled their pants up, stopped talking like illiterate fools, didn't act like animals, and showed some respect for life, the laws, and other people instead of thinking about getting laid out shooting someone for the color of the shoes they wear, people wouldn't stereotype them and maybe give them a chance? I do not blame anyone but their parents, the lack of parents in the home that discipline their children, and the fact that so many of these thugs come from homes with multiple children from multiple fathers that are not in the kids lives. The multi-generational disrespect for the law, the rampant dependence on drugs and alcohol, and the desire to live off of the welfare state throughout several generations has caused the black community to be fearful of trying to do better. It's an entire race that is viewed as lazy, criminally inclined, and determined to fail. It is easier to cry racism and blame others for their misfortune that accept they are the reason for it.There are so many good black people out in this world that don't deserve that inclusion though. I have had numerous friends, of many races. I have had several black friends and worked with many black people as well. There were some that worked very hard and some that were "just employed". The people that were just employed were products of the environments listed above and used it to their advantage. The people that worked hard and appreciated the work and benefits of a hard day's work, were from some of the same environment but fought against that environment and strived because they would not settle for anything less than a good life for themselves and their families. There are segments of every race, in every area of the country, that are criminal. Black, white, red, brown, or yellow skin. There are poor kids, rich kids, middle class kids, and every where in between that do the right thing. But there are also those same kids that do everything wrong and refuse to contribute to society and follow the rules of decency and respect for others. I will just teach my children right from wrong, provide the best life for then that I can, and pray that when they get older they make the right choices and stay on the path towards being good human beings.
