1986 Camaro 2x3 Square Tube Chassis NHRA 8.50
Fiberglass, Funny Car Cage, Trade for Rat Rod
View Extra Large Photos
$7,000.00
Just to clarify. I am not interested in trading for another race car, especially one of lesser value than what I already have! The only thing I will trade for is a Rat Rod or custom street rod from before the 1960's. NO Boats, No 4 Wheelers, No Motorcycles, No Trailers, get the idea? Just getting a little tired of explaining this. I am really not this hard to get a long with. Just be realistic. Cash is still King!!! Everything is still for sell for the right price.

For those of you interested I pulled off the oil pan and found a piece of a small spring that was from the original crane lifters that broke earlier in the year stuck in the pickup tube of the pump. Engine will need crankshaft turned and rods resized and new bearings. Nothing broken just gauled the crankshaft. The original crane lifters have been replaced with a better set of comp cams roller lifters. I have pictures of the damage if you want to see it send me an email to geek@grundyec.net and I will reply with pictures attached.

1986 Camaro Super Gas Tube Chassis Drag Race

For sale or trade for Rat Rod.

2â x 3â Square tube chassis with funny car cage. Body is mostly Harwood fiberglass. The only steel remaining is the window pillars and the top. Front clip, hood, doors and rear quarters, and rear portion of hatch is all Harwood fiberglass. Windows are all lexan except for the rear which is glass. Car weighs 2300 pounds wet, with no driver. Car has been weighed at all 4 corners and has 51% of total weight on rear axle and 49% on front. Equal weight on both rear wheels and about 75 to 100 pounds more weight on the left front wheel than on the right front with 155 pound driver. Have Wilwood 4 piston brakes on all 4 wheels and Wilwood master cylinder. Chassis Engineering adjustable coil over shocks on all 4 corners. New RCI camlock 3â wide seat belts with March 08 Manufacture date stamp. Chassis has not be certified but I am certain it will certify to at least 8.50 ET.

Rear axle is a GM 12 Bolt with Mosier Engineering 31 spline axles, Richmond 6.14 gear and spool and C clip eliminators. Also comes with a 4.56 Richmond gear. Transmission is a Turbo 350 with 4,000 rpm stall converter, trans brake and reverse shift pattern with B&M ratchet shifter.

Engine is a 454 2 bolt main block bore .060 with massive domes on pistons, steel rods, not sure of the manufacture or size bought engine assemble over racing junk. Camshaft is a Chet Herbert roller cam with .740 lift. Lost cam card so I do not have the rest of the specs. Also has competition engineering roller lifters and .100 long pushrods, titanium valve keepers with .10 degree retainers and new comp cams springs. Heads are 14081052...85-87...oval...OPEN...366T, 427T, 454 Truck, Marked "HiPerf.â Has 427 steel crankshaft for a total of 436 cubic inches displacement. Weiand Team G dominator intake port matched to the heads with Holley 1050 Dominator carb. Barry Grant BG 280 fuel pump with BG 4 port regulator and liquid filled pressure gauge. MSD billet distributor with MSD 6al and 2 step rev limiter. New Afco Aluminum Radiator. Jegs Aluminum Valve Covers with Positive lock crank case evacuators. Custom built 2â tube headers with 4â collectors.

When this car was last taken to the track it lost oil pressure and was shut off and pushed back to the trailer. I have not taken the engine apart to inspect the damage or cause, but the engine does still turn over using the starter and is not locked up.

I love my race car but simply can not afford to continue racing. For the purpose of this auction I am selling this car turn key but if could also be bought as a roller less engine, trans, ignition, motor plates and headers.

Turn Key $10,000

Roller: $8,000

This car is sold as is. I accept paypal payment, cash in person, credit card or U.S. postal money order. Transportation is buyers responsiblity. May meet part way for a fee to cover my expenses or may meet part way or go all the way for the right trade.

I am home now (Sunday 4:15pm)660-425-3231 and will be until 5pm returning again at 7pm. Thanks Jeff On [2008-07-20 17:05:56] jcdrags wrote: > type in ad# 1233549 and let me know if interested....

Answer:

Nice car Kev. But as I said in the ad, I just can't afford to keep racing right now, so I thought I would trade for a cheaper hobby, one that doesn't require weekly entry fees and expensive race gas. Question:

Hi Jeff,. what are you looking to get out of it roller only Thanks Dan

Answer:

I would like to get $8,000 out of the roller. Roller would be everything less the engine, trans, and ignition system. I would through in the headers and motor plates, plus the extra rear end gear. I will be meeting this Saturday with NHRA officials to have the chassis certified. I am certain it will certify to 8.50 ET maybe better. No Thanks Nice car but I am looking to get out of racing because I can no longer afford it. I am going to have the chassis certified this Saturday. Once I do my price may go up. At least it will be much more desirable. I am hoping to find a rat rod or street rod. Thanks for sending me your pictures. Kris, Thanks but I am not interested in another race car. If you can come up with some cash I could certainly be willing to negotiate. With the engine set up I have it has been 6.20 at 115mph in the 1/8. I am sure it would be much faster with your setup. I will be lowering the price for the roller to $6,500. Answer:

I am certain the chassis will hold up. When I had it certified the NHRA tech official said all it need to certify 7.50ET was an X bar under the trans, an X bar under the mid bar of the hoop behind the seat and an X bar on each side of the firewall. The tubing is all .134 thick mild steel Jeff On [2008-08-24 19:37:35] bigboy18 wrote: > do you think the chassie will twist with a big motor > > On [2008-08-24 17:54:20] jeffejoy wrote: > > With the engine set up I have it has been 6.20 at 115mph in the 1/8.
